they just need to rest legitimately. Only come back when close to100.
Fatigued or injured muscles in one area can make you over compensate in another.
To me the biggest thing is scheduling and back to backs. I think that is due to other types of entertainment and booking venues. Idk
And maybe lifestyle choices too. Everything has just become more accessible.

Ime Udoka agrees to a long-term contract extension with the Rockets. This might get some trades moving.

Always good to get your big fat extension before your team trades for KD.

I hope that money was guaranteed Udoka!

Don't want to start a thread for it so putting it here. Anybody else want the NBA to cut back the season to like 60 games? Assuming Haliburton has a torn achilles that's 2, him and Tatum in the playoffs. I'm of the opinion we're seeing overuse, same reason ACL's are so common now. These guys play so much in AAU as kids and then after college they're playing 82 games plus the playoffs and then you have international. I think we're just seeing guys wearing out.

Most of us seem to hate load management but all that is really is coaches saying 82 games is too much, so I'm trying to keep my guys healthy,.

I also forgot about Lillard.

Boston trades Holiday to the Blazers for Simmons and 2nd round picks.

Baffling trade for the Blazers. Do they think they are a 35 year old Jrue Holiday from the playoffs? Holiday also is owed waaaaaay more money than Simmons.

Boston signaling they might sit next season out with Tatum being hurt.

The Blazers seem to perpetually load up on bad contracts, they are a baffling franchise.

The Celtics are saving money and get a good young talent back. I'm not sure what the Trail Blazers are doing.

Maybe the Trail Blazers are trying to add a Chris Paul type veteran in Jrue Holiday if they feel they are ready to compete.

Kind of weird since they acquired him 2 years ago in the Lillard deal and then downgraded to Brogdan. I get that Scoot has been a bit of a bust but the Blazers seem to be the inverse Suns in that they seem to be collecting PG's and C's instead of wings.

The Trail Blazers have always liked their big men, but this is kind of a strange trade.

It seems like they should be getting the second round picks for taking on more salary.

With the second apron stuff, this trade probably saves Boston hundreds of millions in tax penalties over the next three years.

Hoop from Havasu is reporting Jrue won't play a game in Portland and will be flipped elsewhere.....

My sources spotted Portland Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin and former Phoenix Suns General Manager James Jones exiting Ikea with a queen-sized bed frame in tow—reportedly destined for Deandre Ayton's new digs. Eyewitnesses say the two navigated the showroom ‘like men on a mission' and could be overheard discussing plans to move recently acquired veteran Jrue Holiday for Torrey Craig and Jalen Smith.

An Ikea employee, who asked to remain anonymous, stated: ‘They were giggling like twins separated at birth. Then one of them pulled out a swab kit from a paper bag and said, “Let’s just settle this once and for all.” I’m telling you, they marched straight to the returns desk, swabbed cheeks, and whispered something about priority DNA results. I’ve seen a lot in this job, but that? That was strange."

Thanks for the report.

If James Jones is in Portland, we're good.

Per a report, Austin Reaves declines a 4-year $89.2 million max contract extension with the Lakers.

That's odd. He isn't getting more elsewhere. Trouble in paradise? He skipped workouts to be signed by LA as an undrafted free agent initially as well.

Maybe he's worried about being dealt or the new ownership.

It doesn't make a lot of sense, but Grok says he can get more under comments.

I think he's mad about the Luka trade. Luka took his spot in the line up

It makes sense to go where you could get more minutes. However, if you think the Lakers have any chance at a title, maybe you stay put?

I don't think he is going anywhere, but, man, it is still hard for the average working person in America to imagine turning down such a sum of money.

The new ownership has more money than any other owner in the league. Just look what they've done with the Dodgers. Money cannot be a concern.

Money doesn't equal commitment though. The Lakers are in a unique position as the leagues marquee franchise and will always be profitable but that doesn't mean the ownership will spend to keep that up or spend to win.

I think the Lakers four year offer was more than fair. Reaves was an undrafted free agent when he entered the NBA.

That is a big salary for an undrafted guy. His agent better not cost him money. I know last year a big name agent had a pitcher decline a pretty good contract and wait it out, and that guy never did get a decent offer that season. There is risk, but the player is betting on himself. If it works, good for him.

Well, the way they are spending on the Dodgers signals they probably will. Unless (hopefully) the Dodgers payroll ends up overextending them.

But then again, I also wouldn't be surprised to see them trying the whole "deferred money" shenanigans with the Lakers, if they can manage to get away with it.
