Kyler had him and over shot the ball late in the forth quarter for about 45 yards

I’m not sure who’s to blame, but MHJ, K1, and Petzing all need to figure it out. Our player of the game yesterday was Deejay Dallas for plowing over their kicker. That single play won the game for us lol.
I think this is what everyone on this board needs to understand. It's a group effort.

MHJ appears better against Zone by a tiny bit, but Wilson is much better against Man, where MHJ appears very average.

Anyone else think he should be slotted in as WR1?

Why would it matter? As long as he's one of two WR's on the field in a two WR set, I don't understand if you designate one as WR1 and the other WR2. Help me out.
QBs go through plays with progression reads, which means they move through designated receiver options in a predetermined order. The "WR1" gets slotted in earlier on the progression tree, getting better/more looks from the QB, and sometimes entire plays are designed soley to get the WR1 open.

Last year the offense functioned better with MHJ completely inactive because it forced our staff to put Michael Wilson earlier in the reads. If the WR1 isnt ever getting open that means your QB is forced to hold onto the ball longer, inevitably leading to more QB scrambles/sacks/throwaways. Coaches choosing the wrong guy to scheme as the WR1 can have a huge negative impact on the offense.

Since Monti is still here MHJ is going to be the #1 no matter what. Our beat writers have heavily implied that Monti has a say in how personnel is used, and Monti will be probably fired if MHJ doesnt put up WR1 numbers. If MHJ is the 3rd read behind McBride and Wilson he would at most project for ~600-700 yards.

He’s a bum. Not even good enough to be a #3 WR. Or so I have been told by multiple posters
Right?
I been defending MikeWilly for years but even I was getting worn down by the idiot brigade.
One can only hope the recent obvious examples will motivate them to go on "read only" and just sit quietly...because asking for learning is expecting too much.

While that is basically true...play design also affects/determines read order.
I'm one who isn't too concerned with who wears the WR1 moniker so long as all our guys are being well used.
Think.. Boldin, Fitzgerald, Breaston.... Three 1000yds+ receivers is very possible with our current roster... however it may be more difficult without the , Stevie Breaston, influence on the field...it seems Mike, Marv, and Trey all play best in similar areas of the field...the obvious answer for most teams is to tighten up the TE and keep him to routes 5 yards or less...but that would hamper Trey and ultimately cause us to lose him...
So adding that deep threat, and using him...is the only real option for maximizing the guys we have...
Making that work requires we buy our QB 2.5 seconds in a clean pocket...as opposed to the 1.7ish he currently gets

Not going to happen….

If a player is not pro bowl level at the 1st snap of their rookie season = bum

You just described Kyler, although it did take him until his 2nd year to be a Pro Bowler.

He does have better hands and quicker reaction time when the ball is up on him. I don't know about WR1 vs WR2. Marv is a physical freak, which has its upsides. But JSN is reminding everybody how important reliable hands are in the playoffs. All it takes is one poorly timed drop. Marv will cost us a playoff game if we ever get that far.

Is he tho? Whats this based on?

It always seemed to me that MJH was extremely fundamentally sound and that was how he gained separation. It’s also why he struggled to connect with Kyler , who is a vibes passer.

His length. He's 6-3 and twitchy for that size.

We all like the potential but Wilson needs a full year of consistent production before we "crown his ass".

2025:
12 games he had less than 62 yards
7 games he had less than 36 yards (5, 11, 5, 15, 16, 34, and 36)
5 games he had less than 20 yards
3 games over 100 yards (185, 118, and 142)

Zero 100 yards games in all of 2023 and 2024 - 29 games
