I can agree with that purely on principle.
But I do think that even in this offense Baker makes us better...mostly just because he ain't afraid to let it rip
It was obvious to all outside Cleveland that Baker wasn't the problem. But he has also matured and grown his game since leaving the Browns.
Yes, but schematically its still the same struggle offense that had Baker looking bad. He wasnt afraid to let it rip in Cleveland, but it was bad.

Just like it was bad in Carolina even though he had DJ Moore and McCaffrey.

As a guy. Sure. You'd rather have him, but the results would be the results.
There needs to be a foundational change in Arizona for a guy like Baker to take advantage of it.

Mayfield is a true leader of an army. He gives everything he have on every play. I would go to war with that guy every day. He might not be the best quarterback, but Bucs-fans must be extremely excited that he is on their team. I would trade Murray for Mayfield in a splitsecond.

Murray's cut / trade year (2027) is next year when his dead cap is 7 million. 2026 dead cap is 57 million.
I don't agree, Chris. First of all, they can split that dead cap hit over two years by making it a post-June 1 designation. Second, the salary cap doesn't mean much anymore with how much is goes up every year. Especially if you have a rookie QB, 57 million is not crazy.

This is accurate. There is nothing really holding the Cardinals back from moving on from Kyler if they wanted to.

Michael isn’t paying Kyler Murray $38 million not to play football in 2026. That’s not accounting for paid bonus money—it’s guaranteed salary and roster bonus to be paid.

The only way to move off him is to trade him. Maybe you could trade him and a third for a second.
And replace him with who?

And replace him with who?
Brissett and a draft pick?
Danny Dimes?
Carson Wentz?

I’m not actually done with Kyler, but people who expect him to be released probably don’t understand the dynamics of the ownership group.

Similarly, people who think teams would give up the opportunity for a young prospect on a rookie deal because they think they can “fix”
Kyler are delulu.

The Bidwill family are not paying Kyler $57 million not to play football. Michael choked on paying Colt McCoy $2.25MM guaranteed.
Where do you get 57 from? Murray "only" has 33 million guaranteed. Plus, it is quite standard for NFL contracts to include offset language which - if Murray were cut - would lower the money that Bidwill would have to pay, as long as someone else sign Murray. And if traded, Bidwill doesn't have to pay any of it.

Over the Cap has $36.8M in guarantees for 2026. Plus, the signing bonus and option bonus is 10.7M. That makes $47.5M. https://overthecap.com/player/kyler-murray/7792

Spottrac has $39.8M in guarantees for 2026.

  • $22.835M 2026 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2025 (injury at signing)
  • 2026 90 Man Roster Bonus: $17M (fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2025, injury at signing)
  • you have to ask yourself, is Murray worth $40M dollars a year.

I was wrong about $57 million. Kyler has $33 million or so STILL COMING TO HIM.

You’re making a wild and baseless assumption about offset language. Come with facts. Kyler could take the Russ Steelers deal and play for the league minimum.

As I said, the only real option is to trade him.

After Geno totally craps out, he’s gonna be a Raider. It’s my best football friend’s destiny to have him ruin his team after mocking mine for so many years.

I am not making any assumption. I am only informing you that most NFL contracts have offset language in them.
