– There was one player – maybe two if you include Reese – with obvious superstar potential in this draft, and Cards got him. Complain about that, haters.
– The Cards need finishers. Players that can close out games. Before it completely went off the rails last season, they lost 5 games in a row with a combined 13 points, and they could have won several of them if they could close out games. Love can do that.
– Who gives a flying ***k about the financial side of this? The salary cap is completely, utterly irrelevant, and it’s not your money.
– A side benefit of the pick is that it immediately makes life easier for whoever is the quarterback.
– I mentioned it in another thread yesterday; I think it is okay to just be a fan and hope for more exciting games. No, picking a runningback that high is not the “right” pick in terms of team construction, but it immediately makes the team more exciting to watch. It’s not like they are contending for any title next season anyway, so I think it is okay to just ask for more entertainment.
– Someone said yesterday that Love would not have been a top ten-pick last year. I mean, I don’t know what to do with wild perspectives like that. There is not a single doubt that NFL teams would not let a playmaker like him slip.
– Let’s calm down with all the gloom-and-doom prophecies about how Love will get 0 yards behind their offensive line. It is definitely not a worse unit than the one that blocked for James Connor when he flourished a couple of years ago (several of the players are actually the same).
– This was 100% a Michael Bidwill-pick, but that doesn’t mean it is not good for Ossenfort too. Both things can be true. Ossenfort are responsible for assembling the most boring team in the NFL. He needs to change that.
– Jeremyiah Love, Tre McBride, Marvin Harrison, Michael Wilson. Most NFL teams would take that skill position-group in a heartbeat.
– Mike LaFleur was brought in to fix the offense. So it is good business to support him in that.
