FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, April 29, 2003 11:25am

Tempe, Arizona — The 2003 Arizona Cardinals take the
field for the first time this weekend when they hold
their annual full-squad spring mini-camp from
Friday-Sunday, May 2-4 at the team’s south Tempe
training facility. “Fan Fest” highlights the Saturday
morning practice.

The three-day mini-camp includes returning veterans,
new faces such as running back Emmitt Smith,
quarterback Jeff Blake, safety Dexter Jackson,
linebacker James Darling, fullback James Hodgins, and
offensive linemen Frank Garcia and Cameron Spikes, this
year’s seven-player draft class featuring first-round
selections Bryant Johnson (wide receiver) and Calvin
Pace (defensive end), and 11 college free agents.

Players report Thursday, May 1. Practices are
scheduled for 9:55 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Friday, 10:35
a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:45 a.m. on
Sunday.

“Fan Fest” -— The Saturday morning mini-camp workout
headlines “Fan Fest.” Formerly known as
“Select-A-Seat,” the event will be held at the
Cardinals’ training facility instead of Sun Devil
Stadium for the first time. Scheduled for 8:30
a.m.-12:30 p.m., the festivities include a Junior
Gatorade Training Camp for kids, inflatable games,
player autograph session for children (17 and under),
cheerleader autographs, and mascot Big Red. In
addition to the morning practice, fans also can watch
the 2002 highlight film and select the best available
seat locations for the upcoming season. Fans are
encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Coolers
will not be permitted. Concessions, benefiting the
Glendale Navy Junior ROTC program, will be available.

Cardinals Celebrity Golf Classic -— The Cardinals take
to the golf course for charity on Monday, May 5 when
they participate in the 14th annual Cardinals Charities
Celebrity Golf Classic at the Wigwam Golf Resort in
Litchfield Park.

Tournament participants will play golf with players and
coaches. Head Coach Dave McGinnis will serve as
honorary chairman of the tournament.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. Lunch precedes the
12:45 p.m. shotgun start.

Proceeds from the tournament fund the grant program of
Cardinals Charities. Established in 1990 to benefit
the work of non-profit organizations across Arizona
that minister to the needs of women, children, and
minorities, Cardinals Charities has distributed grants
to over 200 organizations since its inception.

Is the Friday morning practice open to the public?

No. It is not open to the public. I think that Jo Sparkes is coming down to cover it for ASFN. If not, I'll give you some notes on things that go on.
