FC Twente’s departing technical director Jan Streuer has confirmed that Barcelona are interested in talented teenager Ruud Nijstad.
The Catalans have been linked with the 18-year-old Dutch talent but Streuer has warned the defender he may not play if he does make the move to Camp Nou.
“Barcelona is interested. There is English interest as well,” he told Voetbal International.
“Actually, as a talent, you should have enough self-knowledge to know that you won’t play there. Not at that age. Here you play every game, in a good team, and you have European football.
“You wish the boys a little patience. But the problem also lies with the agents. They want to make transfers.”
Barca have been making moves to recruit young talent in recent transfer windows, bringing in the likes of Patricio Pacífico and Hamza Abdelkarim among others.
Jesse Bisiwu is another player that Barca are reportedly keeping tabs on ahead of a potential transfer.
