This "way too early" NFL eval of MHJ from before he signed with OSU is hilarious. Dohn is right, Marv's biggest problem is that he can't handle being jammed even slightly, and Marv does play like a 3rd round pick. The Cardinals need to hire this guy as a scout.

A fun video I had to share.

This guy is a 20+ year scout, talking about MHJ the December before the 2024 draft from 35 minutes to ~41 minutes.

It's all here. He talks about MHJ's issues with press coverage, and his horrible catching technique; reflexively trying to catch underhand and to his chest, leading to surprising drops. All of this was there for scouts to see.

He does note that there have been guys who have caught with poor technique like MHJ and found success in the league. Most notably, Marvin Harrison senior. MHJ's dad has probably been teaching him to body catch since Pop Warner.

That said, Marv was still a good prospect. Every issue that plagued him in college and his first two years is fixable. He can still be great, he just wasn't the day 1 elite WR that Nabers was.

But I was okay with Marv as an alternate and I still am. The kid has talent and he has size. You can't teach either of those.

You are describing how we lost out on Anderson. Anderson and Sweat would be VG outside rushers. But at least we'd have a haul.

he's very talented - i think lafleur can utilize those talents especially with mcbride and wilson and love taking up space

petzing had decent schemes but didn't cater to player's talents - if you listen to lafleur it's the other way around - he wants to utilize talents across the board

i'm surprised you're going in on the guy for muscles tho lol - and dropping a deuce on his season for a drop in the preseason - khaman man

plus mhj was in on the trip with mcbride to go practice with brissett while brissett was still holding out - this is noteworthy imo

mhj has gotten stronger - he has a new coach who isn't just going to send him racing up the sideline fighting a cb and a safety for the ball

if he got buff it's likely to beat the press - that's what's prevented him from getting separation early

i think there will be games where wilson is the man and others with mhj being the man - the better wilson gets - the less attention mhj gets and vice versa

i realize 1,000 yards is a subpar benchmark for a wide receiver selected #3 in the draft - and that he should probably have double digit touch downs to justify the pick

but 1,000 yards and 7 or 8 touchdowns would be outstanding - not because he sucks but because we have 3 other mouths to feed in mcbride - wilson - love

last but not least - tip mother****ing reiman - lafleur can create or clear space for mhj easily - same goes for wilson
