He doesn't fit in our starting lineup and he's the obvious odd man out.
Because he makes 35M, we just are not doing that.

Who cares? He's overpaid.
We have too many guys who dribble, don't pass and are bad outside shooters in the starting lineup. Gillespe as the starter with Green being the change of pace guy off the bench makes a ton of sense.
I get it, your points are valid on certain levels. But paying a guy 35M to come off the bench says a lot of things about a player and a franchise, not a good look and would destroy any repour we have left after acquiring Bridges. Let's be realistic here.
Agreed. Green is no superstar, and he does not need to be babied either.I don't think it would damage our reputation one iota... maybe with Green, but I don't think anyone outside the organization would bat an eye if Green came off the bench.
Shot creation ability is crucial for winning in the playoffs. OKC, Spurs, Knicks all have plenty of it. Suns were poor at it. Booker regressed over the year, against improving defense league wise. Brooks surprised a bit with his turnaround jumper. We added Bridges who can create some at PF, and Peat has potential here. But the largest untapped potential lies with Green. The team has to help him improve there, and playing him as 6th man won't cut it.
Some would’ve said KAT was the center version of green prior to his stint in New York. Players change with the right coaching and environment. No offense... but I think those teams would steer 10 miles wide of a player like Green.
Those are not ISO teams, those teams are ball movement, catch and shoot... sure, when things break down, they rely on their star to pull something off. But those offenses are built largely on shooting and spacing and quick action. Green is the absolute antithesis of that.
Green isn't a shade away from Shai or Brunson... Green is Kelly Oubre.
But the three point shooting is lacking now. This is why Collin has to start. The logical choice is to bring Green off the bench. Collin is a 40% 3 point shooter, ball handler, distributor, and a pretty good defender. He is the better fit with the starting lineup.Shot creation ability is crucial for winning in the playoffs. Exactly. KAT transformed the 3rd (?) year after trade to NY. The first couple years there Suns fans valued him even worse than Green, due to former's max contract. Green has a quick first step as fast as Maxie or Mitchell, and strong enough to shoot through contacts. What separates him from them is control and speed changes. But the basic talent is there. Some would’ve said KAT was the center version of green prior to his stint in New York. Players change with the right coaching and environment.
3pt shooting % reflects the pressure the shooter got from defense. Booker and Green's are much more under pressure than Colin's.But the three point shooting is lacking now. Yes and no. Pull up threes tend to be lower percentage with catch and shoot being higher percentage. Booker rarely took catch and shoot threes last year.3pt shooting % reflects the pressure the shooter got from defense. Booker and Green's are much more under pressure than Colin's.

jalen green is a starter - pure scorer - when he has off nights we got gillespie - kennard - spencer to sub in and play team ball with bookThe only points I could make on Green coming off the bench as a sixth man, is it would help the roster starting five, and supply needed bench scoring.
The reason it could happen, we saw them make Bradley Beal come off the bench and he was paid a lot of money.
The reason it won't happen, we need to get Green's stock up if we intend to trade him next season as an expiring contract.
The only reason I see a trade this season, is swaps for bad contracts. There's a team with a SF, PF, C that is way overpaid, and they need a guard that is a scorer. We swap bad contracts.
The Collin Gillespie starting PG era is here.

I've been on the start Collin, bring JG off the bench crew for a while now.As suspected, Booker plays better with a point guard next to him.

Gillespie averaged more assists per game last year in 28 mpg than Jalen Green has in any season of his career. More importantly his AST/TO is much better.I've been on the start Collin, bring JG off the bench crew for a while now.
