The NFL opened themselves up to a huuuge lawsuit here. Bush league move by the NFL.
It's the NFLs choice to hold a supplemental draft. Not a law or requirement. Can't see how they could lose a lawsuit.
Plus any lawsuit filed wouldn't be at the local level like they did in Lubbock.

Sorsby needs to go away, rehab his image, and make the best of 2027 draft.

Using a "you didn't give us enough time" excuse on their official rejection when he met the deadline criteria, along with all the vague reasoning is just dumb. They've literally let hardened criminals enter the supplemental draft. It opens them up to litigation when they could've just said he'd be suspended a year, go ahead and draft him. Dumb.

They have even suspended players who were not arrested. The NFL takes domestic abuse seriously.

Examples of suspensions without arrests

  • Greg Hardy – Suspended for 10 games in 2014 after being accused of assaulting a woman in his home. The assault charges were later dropped during an appeal when the victim declined to testify. The NFL reduced his suspension to 4 games after an appeal Sportskeeda.
  • Adrian Peterson – Suspended for 6 games in 2014 after being indicted on felony child abuse charges (related to a separate incident). While he was arrested, the domestic violence case against him was not criminalized; the league’s action was based on the child abuse allegations Sportskeeda.
  • Ezekiel Elliott – Suspended in 2018 after an NFL investigation into domestic violence allegations that did not result in criminal charges Sporting News.
  • Tyreek Hill – Suspended in 2019 after an NFL investigation into domestic violence allegations that did not lead to criminal charges USA Today.
No they don't.

They just cancelled an entire draft to prevent a kid from being drafted due to gambling. In essense giving him a year long suspension before he ever comes in the league.

Please show me an equivalent punishment by these degenerate sports orgs.

I can't believe some of you are taking up this cause.

Dear Lord

They didn't cancel an entire draft. They held the NFL Draft back in April. The Supplemental draft only happens if the NFL deems it necessary. There hasn't been one since 2023

And I believe the last time someone was even drafted was the Cards with Jalen Thompson in 2019.

Do you think it's possible owners already let the league know that no team wanted to draft him, based on the circumstances and so the league took the easy way out and just said No Draft? That's a lot easier to explain than it looking like owners are colluding and blackballing the kid.

I highly doubt it.

My guess is this was all the league office. They are not blackballing the kid. They want to make sure they Keep the money they make from sports betting rolling in. It's always about the money in the end.

Just more proof they are totally morally bankrupt.

Why?

They have no obligation to let him play or have a supplemental draft.

I think the NFL is absolutely morally bankrupt, but this is anything but proof.

If I am the league I would lean towards, at minimum, giving him a 2 year suspension even after next year's draft.

Frankly, I think he should be permanently ineligible.

Let them live in denial.

Then why not just let teams know he'll be suspended for a year? Denying him on less than flimsy reasoning is just plain hypocritical.

Because he submitted his request Last Minute without any supporting documentation or plan to assure the NFL that he had addressed his gambling issues or even taken accountability for what he did. It's not a flimsy reason to try and protect the integrity of the sport that is now heavy tied to sports betting.

Would you hire a financial planner, who was known to have a gambling addiction, to manage your nest egg just based off a polished resume and a letter from their lawyer saying he deserves a job and a second chance. Hell NO!

A through investigation needs to happen. Three days isn't enough time.

Oh, I didn't realize the NFL had instigated new requirements for entering the supplemental draft. He followed standard procedure and then the NFL was like , well, we don't like how you did it even though you actually applied when you were supposed to (before the deadline), and you didn't EXPLAIN your application.

Just a flat out railroad job. If the NFL was transparent and straightforward, this would've been a nothingburger. Stupid..
