He, acting as his own agent, agreed to this crappy contract. We do know that.
Actual agents should be pointing to this and saying "This is what you pay me to prevent"
He signed it. If he had any issues, that would have been the time to state your concerns. Maybe an agent would have spoken up for him, but...

How much in starter incentives do Justin Fields or Gardner Minshew have in their contracts? How much did Mack Jones have?

Well, Brissett has starter incentives. He gets $1 million if he plays in 50% of our games and $2 million if he plays in 65% of our games. Are those the type of incentives you are speaking about?

There is a business aspect to this. Again, it's a silly thing for the Cardinals to get worked up about IMO. Players do "hold ins" often when negotiating. It's not generally viewed as a distraction. I am sure they may get to a point where they could decide to cut him, but his negotiation position is essentially Minshew or Beck looking bad or getting hurt. He doesn't have to rush any of that.
There are also narratives about Michael Wilson in a contract year, MHJ needing to look like he deserved being picked #4, and supporting your 1st year HC which tend to look worse on Monti than Brissett. IMO, if the Cardinals clearly viewed Minshew as the better option to Brissett, Brissett wouldn't still be on the roster.
I am not mad about anything. I actually feel sorry for the guy.

I don't think Brissett was counting on Kyler getting cut. I don't think he was counting on the HC being fired and the GM staying. I don't think he was counting on being retained by a new staff. Ultimately, I think Brissett is fine with getting cut and getting paid to be a backup elsewhere. If the Cards want him to start, they need to pay him or just let him go.
I don't see him as having zero leverage like people on here are saying.

This type of contract is very common in baseball. The second year is viewed as an option and the team pays a smaller amount as a penalty for not picking up the option.

Bottom line for me, Jacoby's contract shows why approximately 99% of the players use agents to negotiate their contracts.

I don't think it is a bad deal. No 32 year old vet gets a contract that has contingencies if they are the starter in year 2 because the 45 mil per year QB gets cut.
