I wasn't blaming Jacoby at all. I was countering his analogy.

But, if you want my opinion on the matter, I'd cut Jacoby before giving him a raise.

I also know that they agreed to give him a raise. It makes me question Monti more than some of his other decisions.

The whole Kyler fiasco was an embarrassment because there was never a plan to replace him. Beck despite my wishes for his success was taken because we HAD to take a developmental QB. I agree wholeheartedly with your raise proposal, but we handled this on the fly instead of planning in advance once we knew we were pivoting from K1. It was just ham-handed.

Why would be hold out? He just became eligible for an extension and extensions generally happen after OTAs once all of the rookies are signed. Plus, is we don't extend him, I'd put $10 he is a 49er in 2027. Him and Sophia live in the Bay area in the off season and she plays in Portland.

I'd have rather they just stand firm then. Commit to Brissett EARLY, draft Love at 3 (which they did) and go with what happens in the draft in 27. They knew damn well they would have preferred an upgrade to start which is why Garrappolo told us hell no and Cousins (and Rodgers to a lesser degree) just blew us the hell off. To your point there weren't a ton of options, but we were sifting through the clearance bin at Target hoping to find a pair of Jordans. Now Jacoby and team has us right where they want us.

What we do know is what they’re saying on Hardy Drive: nothing has changed since two weeks ago.

This organization has earned zero benefit of doubt. Part of smart marketing is getting ahead of storylines and news vs being reactive or not putting out anything.

In terms of impact to the season, there is none. Brissett is not going to significantly change the course of the season. That said, a new coach should bring hope, and this shows the franchise that has been an embarrassment under prior coaches is still an embarrassment with this one.

You think anyone in the league is paying any attention to this? Do you think anyone in the wider NFL fandom is?

The only people paying attention are people who want to use it to manufacturer another reason to attack the org. I expect when it matters, in a few weeks time, he'll be back out there at camp and none of this will matter.

There's nothing for the FO to get in front of. It's not a storyline. It's something the media mentioned briefly in a slow news week a couple of weeks ago and hasn't revisited since.

Nobody cares. I don't care. He Jacoby isn;t happen he can be traded. It makes very little difference to this season.
