Conner and Algier are the same guy for me. If the draft was in Tampa Bay do you think Conner would be there. He was there only because of his Pittsburgh ties. Still a candidate to be cut.

Cutting Conner saves the team less than $500k. He is still a good back and a great leader. Might as well run the remaining tread off that tire and keep Love fresh.

Benson has no trade value

Disagree. And I'm very much a trade realist.

If you mean, value compared to what he cost us then sure. If you mean he's worth nothing at all then I disagree.

Benson is a 3rd round pick with 451 yards on 92 attempts. That's 4.9 YPA. He's 23 years old.

A team will give something for that, it might only be a 6th but there's certainly a market for it, especially is someone's 1st or 2nd RB goes down in camp.

Honestly, they may move Allgeier.

He signed here expecting to be lead back. I don't expect he's too happy at the moment. They can move him post June 1st for a margin dead cap hit.

It would be unusual, and I'm sure that Cards want him to stay, but he may push for an exit. Especially if a team calls and says "About Tyler Allgeier..."

(This is why the draft should be before FA).

I imagine both Allgeier and Conner are upset. Allgeier because he probably signed thinking he would compete for the starting gig. Conner because he just redid his contact. I don't know how much the team should care, but I am sure they are.

I read all the time about drafting a QB so there's competition and it makes players better and the better QB gets the start. Well, same thing with the RB's. No sense getting upset. If you're a better or best running back, you'll get the reps.

I dunno what Conner would be mad about. He got $2.1 MM guaranteed and is on the books for $4M he’s on the roster opening day. He wasn’t going to get a better deal from someone else.

Who believes that Love won’t get as many reps as possible? He’d have to be a catastrophe to not get 20+ touches per game and 60%+ of the reps.

Low-key we should see if we can get anything for MHJ. How many touches are left for him to provide value if he doesn’t really ramp up his efficiency?

Looking at last year it is wise to have several quality RBs on the roster. It doesn't take long for the injury bug to bite. 17 game schedule requires multiple RBs to be used.

Plus I can see both JC and Love on the field at the same time.

Why take a team strength and reduce it for a 6th rd pick?

Allgeier will get plenty of touches during the season.

Conner's going to get $4.35M for a likely light workload. I don't see why he'd be upset.

Allgeier is going to get $8.1M for the next two years regardless of how much he's used - BUT, according to OTC, his contract has an additional $4M of incentives which I'd assume he's now much less likely to earn... so it would be understandable for him to be upset.

If Conner and Benson show that they can handle the non-Love workload, trading Allgeier mid season would save the Cardinals $1.6M on the cap, and only cost his new team his pro-rated $1.5M salary - so he could actually bring some value.

The Cardinals may appear loaded at running back but injuries have a way of changing that in in a hurry.

Just looking back to last season

I absolutely agree, I was just responding to someone saying Conner and Allgeier may be upset with Love being drafted. I don't think either Conner or Benson should be cut

I stand corrected, I meant that JB did not go 1-11 all by himself. There were 52 other players on the team and the coaching staff. My bad, I didn't clarify my statement.
Okay. Find me a good QB who was 25 games under .500 through his first 65 starts.

Darnold was 13 games under .500 through his time with the Jets and Panthers — 56 games.

Stafford was 13 games under .500 through his first 61 games.

I can't believe I didn't realize this long ago. kerouac9 is a euphenism for Stat man.
I can't keep up with the "Stockbrokers". My only point is...Going 1-11 last season was NOT ALL JB's fault. Yes, he's a career backup but even you have to admit, the cardinals losing 11 of 12 games with JB at QB was not all his fault. Come on, ditch the clown wig and the Bidwill knock off suit and open your heart.

OT: When the government admits aliens are living amongst us...will you quote stats that we did or didn't already know about it? LOL
I'm joking but, as I sign off to go to bed. I'll be thinking of your response tomorrow morning. ;)

It would be great to keep all, but age and health are factors as are the fiscal, business sides. One still wants the Conner that put up all the stats and tds, to add to it. But then reality kind of sets in. I hope I'm wrong, and all 4 play in the #1 rush offense.

Holy cow, @kerouac9 has just proven that Brissett is only 12 games worse than the reigning league MVP and Super Bowl winning QBs! Not bad! :thewave:

And if you take away his time with the Cardinals - from which, really, everyone should be absolved - he's only 2 games back!
