day 3 is upon us but the big picks are already in so let us begin

love was the pretty obvious bpa at #3 imo and we needed 87 runningbacks last year - nobody called - monti made the right call - this gives him a easy A in round 1

round 2 was more of the obvious - pretty sure it came down to bisontis or pregnon - pretty sure monti made the right choice as pregnon fell like a pregnant woman directly after - but as far as we know monti didn't try to move up for a better option - i give monti a basic B for this pick

round 3 is where it gets interesting imo and we may be seeing a possible pattern here - starting to think monti prefers college qbs who had a ton of playing time - like a ish ton

clayton tune threw for 12,000 freakin yards in college - over 100 touchdowns - rushed for over a thousand yards - started 34 games - played in 47 - that's a lot on a college resume

carson beck threw for over 11,000 yards - threw for 88 touchdowns combined (two different teams) - started 43 games - played in 3 championship games - that's a lot on a resume too

differences between the two:

tune went 25-15 in college - beck went 37-6 in college - there could be situational advantages afoot here but the biggest difference between the two is clayton tune was mobile af - drafted by monti while we had kyler murray

carson beck is not mobile af - he's a pocket passer - drafted by monti after watching brissett run this offense

gannon is gone and petzing along with him but i think petzing and brissett gave monti the blueprint for the type of offense he now wants

and that offense needs a stand and deliver type of quarterback with quick ass processor - beck isn't a statue like brissett but he does prefer to do his work from the pocket

idk if beck will be any better than tune but i think if beck models his game off of what brissett has accomplished here he should be? (side note - please don't refer to beck as carson - it'll get confusing in here lol)

i didn't expect monti to draft a qb in round 3 - didn't expect him to draft one in this draft period but after a few brownies i can kind of see the logic and the preferences changing - regardless i give him a C for the beck pick - not an A - not an F - just a C as in we'll see

by my hippie math that gives monti ossenfort a B this year (so far) with little chance of changing on the last day

I know that Beck played in TOP LEVEL FB, but I forgot where Tune played.
Clayton Tune played college football at the University of Houston (UH) from 2018 to 2022. He was a five-year player for the Cougars, starting for a significant portion of his career before being drafted into the NFL in 2023.

Not the top, but not bad. Remember, the experts say picking a QB is the hardest job in scouting.

he gets a C- from me. The only legit pick he made was Love and it's hard to mess up the 3rd overall pick.
Round 2 was meh, decent player but the rest were garbage.

You're picking at the top of every round and this is what we got????

Drafts can't be fairly graded for 2-3 years. I don't know enough about any of these players to even begin to guess how it went.

I will say this I haven't been wowed by any of his drafts or offseasons so far and history is not on his side to really deserve the benefit of the doubt.

B+ , the + is for not getting stupid with the first pick. Look like solid picks even though I would rather another position than qb in round 3.

I think in his first 2 years before this some of his players he picked are better than they’ve actually played because it goes back to poor coaching & poor schemes & scheme fit, particularly on defense.

He f up on the initial trade down & selecing PJJ & he knows it, which he hasn’t done since. You gotta have studs & diffence makers or your toast

I think 3 guys were drafted that will definitely get a 2nd contract with the Cardinals in Love, Chase, and Proctor and that’s pretty solid. Beck is underwhelming.

You forgot to mention that all the experts have rated this draft as the STRONGEST in recent memory.

Like the first, second, 4th, and 6th round selections. The 3rd, 5th not so much. 7th who knows.
