an odd draft year where the sure fire picks at #3 came down to a RB, a S and a Guard.

They took a RB who by all accounts looks like a star.

But this also feels like buying a new convertible when your house has a leaky roof.

On record that cards need a run game before they ever consider a forward pass. Jim brown said the running back makes the offensive line famous, not the other way around.

Would love to see Love be all around back like my all time favorite Leroy Kelly - who won punt return championships prior to rushing championships.

Running back injuries and failure was the main reason team failed last year, Kyler nor Jacoby ever had a chance, in the run first offense.

Media and fans act like it was a side dish, when it was the main course. Flipping the ball arrogantly before crossing the goal line - deserved to get the staff fired. Quicksand sucked the whole team into deep muck it’s -

Jacoby had great numbers , play - and lost all but the dallas game. Yay for that! But nothing illustrates my point more- it wasn’t a Kyler problem it was a failed run game.

I’m not sure love is the savior, but the rb room as a whole could allow the team to compete in the nfcw - if we can compete there- cards can compete anywhere.

I probably would have done something to aid our 29th ranked defense. I’m not a scout or a personnel exec. Those people are paid to produce results.

I wouldn’t be opposed to CJ Allen- I know it’s not a premier position, but in the second round…. I see a lot of SEC football and the dude is a brutal force. I think we all have to admit that our ILB spot is a huge liability right now compared to the rest of the position groups.

I'm not looking to pile on anyone, but I agree, especially knowing what we know now. If the Cards stuck and picked Arvell Reese just to see Love go at #4, ouch.

And even more of a potential ouch, imagine if we traded back with the Cowboys for #12 and #20, imagining Fano/Mauigoa/Simpson, only to lose out on all 3, extra ouch.

He would have had to hire a coach who'd never coached in the NFL and had been retired for 15 years to do that. We picked Ottis Anderson the year after we lost Coryell to the Chargers over money and Bidwill tampering with personnel. Bidwill then hired Bud Wilkinson. Bidwill lost Metcalf to the CFL after the 77 season. 78 we had Wayne Morris and Jim Otis, Otis was pretty washed, Morris never panned out so they took Anderson the next year in a week draft. It was the 2nd year of Wilkinson as coach, Bidwill wanted him to start Pisarkiewicz at QB because Jim Hart was 35, Pisarkiewicz was terrible, Wilkinson refused so he fired him with 3 games left in the season.

Honestly as bad as the Cards have been in recent years it doesn't even come close to those post Coryell years

Yes, Walker was the Super Bowl MVP. He was also picked in round 2, 41st pick. Good idea if you have a QB.

I fully understand the idea of how this would be better if we had a a QB in hand, but any option available to us wouldn't have led to a QB without irritating this fanbase. I'm struggling to understand what would have worked in our favor the way the draft fell.

He was better than that originally, he was one of the best RB's in the NFL but we overused him early in his career. Still had a great career

So happy for fitz - but truth is cards collapsed before his SB playoff run - until edge was inserted - until 10 carry SB loss
2009 beanie carried cards on one leg. Was the engine that got a 3 score lead before Favre and the packers came back - nawlings the next week started with 80 yard tht TD - before getting Kurt killed and retired. With only 10 rb runs!

Rb is the engine on offense- we should have a competitive engine next year. brisett passed his ass off and km was not the problem, only scapegoat.

yep I missed that he might have meant Jim Otis not Ottis Anderson. Jim Otis fell off a cliff after 28, last 2 seasons averaged only 3.4 YPC. The Cards lost Terry Metcalf in 77 and expected Wayne Morris to replace that part of the thunder and lightning with Otis, Morris didn't do it. So we picked Ottis Anderson who was a tremendous player.

I hope Love has a similar debut, Ottis' first game 21 for 193 including a 76 yard TD.

I like Simpson, but couldn’t chance him early enough to beat the Rams. I posted before the draft they worried me. He’s going to take a lot of prep, but probably worth it. I love guys who can read defenses and stay calm!
