You pick Love and get your RT on Round 2. We have the 2nd pick in Rd 2 so I'm sure there will be some good ones avaialbe. Take a qb on rd 3 to develop like Nussmeier, Allar or Beck. Being a long time season ticket holder I would like to have someone to get excited about and Love would be that player.
Or...you can get an OG at 34 thats much higher quality than any of the tackles available..
will we still suck at tackle??...Yeah... but we got TE's for a reason...there are ways to scheme help for an OT...and a RB that can block, I.E.(Love) is one of those ways.
Make do with some help this season... then we have next off season to address a starting RT of improved quality...perhaps to go along with our top 3 QB next year....
But either way,...DT's blasting through our interior line is a much bigger threat than backers coming around the edge.

Id be all in to have him, but what keeps me up at night is at that slot, 3, he becomes one of the highest [aid RBs in the league, before he ever even steps on the field. Have we not learned anything? That seems like a WILD decision to make.

That said, if we do it, Eff it. Im all in.

That is a perfectly rational position Chop.
There is a saying in sales...a truth in fact..
"People will always pay more for what they want than they will for what they need"

The underlying psychology is deep. But simple in the end.
I, and others who want to draft Love,...want that feeling I get when our RB jukes, side steps, slips, spins, barrels, and leaps ...and each move has the potential to get him loose.
Hell, I even want that "aaaah maaaaaann" disappointment when the razzle dazzle just isn't enough.......this time

And a side note...I am an autistic person...it's rare for us to be athletic. .. but, I can't deny that Love being autistic as well has a strong influence on me wanting him on our squad... it would be nice to see one of us hit big in pro sports......
But I also know the autistic mind. I know Love sees the game differently from other players.... that difference could very well lead him to greatness on the field...will it? Probably not...picking the negative stance is definitely the easier choice...
But he could...and "IF" he does. I would like to see the redbird on his helmet as he does it..

Might be smarter to trade back a few times and draft big Max around 18 or 20.

But we have made the "smart" pick...over...and over....and over....
And it hasn't gotten us crap.
One trip to the dance with a rebel dinosaur coach and a QB with a chip on his shoulder...and our "Window" slammed shut.
So screw it.. I'm a fan. Fans want to have fun. Fans like sexy exciting picks...total flip in philosophy for me. We suck. We always suck. That's not going to change. So fudge it... I want to have fun while we suck
Our next SB window will still come around in 2048 or so no matter who we pick.
It's like getting a Pity Drop in a video game... the universe grants us a Pity Window of 1 or 2 years every 25 years or so...it will come back around on schedule no matter who we draft tomorrow.

So I just want to have some excitement while we wait.
I didn’t know he’s autistic. That’s cool.

ND released this 30 minute highlight video of Love today. A little draft warmup for you just in case.

What I see in these highlights what I see is a RB with great vision. He sees holes and exploits them. Compare it to a tape of Conner who has to break 2 tackles at the Oline just to gain 5 yards. I’m not saying Love can’t break tackles, I’m saying when you have to break tackles at the line, down after down, it wears on a player. How many of these runs featured initial holes; almost all of them. Also downfield defender speed in the NFL is much faster, limiting some of those long runs. It was clear if you can get Love room to run, he’s a major weapon. He’s one of those rare players who can see the entire field and envision an escape route. He’ll be fun to watch when he gets space. Durability with constant impact still scares me. It took McCaffrey years and extreme dedication to build his body to handle that. Few runners last that long.
