If you think Simpson can 'be the guy,' why putz around and do trade-downs and trade-ups that will expose him to other teams? The need factor at QB is greater than any other consideration. So, trying to fudge around with 'value' considerations when it comes to QB and the place you take him is a 'pennywise and pound foolish' calculation.

It is not as if the Cards have a stellar record of top draft picks. Also, it is unknown where we are going to be in next year's draft order. Take him at #3 or expose his availability to other QB-needy teams? Just take him with your #3 pick if you think he has a chance---we earned the luxury of being that high in the draft order. We'll probably be there again next year as it is.
agree.
I dont particularly want Simpson. But if the staff is convinced he can be our QB1 then you just take him at 3. If he can be a franchise QB then he is worth the pick.
I dont think so. But I have been wrong a time or two in regards to quarterbacks.

I like Mendoza

I like Mendoza, but I think in many classes he doesn't go #1. For example, I don't think he's as good a prospect as Justin Herbert coming out and is going #1 because it's a week class and teams are always QB needy. Top 10 in any class for sure, just not #1.

Let's just say taking Simpson at #3 would be a very, very Cardinals thing to do.

Sooo, to summarize: take Simpson because the cards are stupid
the cards are stupid when they draft
and, who cares because the cards will suck no matter what and we'll do it all over again next year.....I'm guessing April Fools is over :(
It's definitely draft season. Smokescreens and dancing lights. Little people dressed in green and of course let's forget about acid I took in 1989

As of April 2 -- it sure feels like Simpson is going round 1, just a question of where

The NFL invited him to draft day -- and while no guarantee, is indicative of a consensus view he is likely a top 32 pick

in the couple weeks prior to the draft, we will see if the 98.7 hosts talk about Simpson like a no brainer 1st rounder. That will be the tell

I heard them talking this morning on NFL network about one of the mocks (Bucky? Couldn't stop to watch) where they said the Cards trade back up into the 1st, but not for Simpson. They go OT. Didn't hear who the first pick was. Commentor said Simpson goes in the 2nd (his opinion only).

Yes, this is a lousy report on just another mock. Sorry! Carry on.

Too many teams need a qb that is why Simpson will go in the first round.

All QBs are a risk. The bigger the gamble the lower the draft choice. I’m okay with Simpson but not at 3. Trade down and get some risk reduction.

Agreed. If we must draft him, and the coach loves him, then fine. Trade back in the 1st or trade back up in the 2nd. But also protect yourself by gaining primarily 2027 picks and not giving up 2027 picks.

If we MUST trade back, however, I'd favor OT. Same if we must trade back up into the 1st round and picked a non-OT at #3.

I agree with this

and with 1st round contract slotting: taking a guy you think can be a starting QB is pretty low cost and you control him for 5+ years.

but a top 5 kinda pick? far too rich

I really appreciate that @K9 disagrees that I have been wrong a couple times.

If he's in the same class as Maye, Caleb, and Jayden, he might not even go top ten.

Per Dan Graziano, ESPN, that he left the Owners Meeting with the feeling that Simpson will NOT go in the 1st round. F/w/i/w.
Good. He shouldn't. I do hope a rival of ours takes a flyer on him in the first, though, because I don't think he has much chance of success.

Is he though?? For months before the hype season started all the talk was that he wasn't even worthy of a shot at tackle in the league and would have to go straight to guard.
And now he's suddenly plug and play?
If they are going to draft him it will be as a plug and play RT

If the coaching staff doesn't feel that he's capable of that then they have to move on and draft someone else
