agree.If you think Simpson can 'be the guy,' why putz around and do trade-downs and trade-ups that will expose him to other teams? The need factor at QB is greater than any other consideration. So, trying to fudge around with 'value' considerations when it comes to QB and the place you take him is a 'pennywise and pound foolish' calculation.
It is not as if the Cards have a stellar record of top draft picks. Also, it is unknown where we are going to be in next year's draft order. Take him at #3 or expose his availability to other QB-needy teams? Just take him with your #3 pick if you think he has a chance---we earned the luxury of being that high in the draft order. We'll probably be there again next year as it is.
I dont particularly want Simpson. But if the staff is convinced he can be our QB1 then you just take him at 3. If he can be a franchise QB then he is worth the pick.
I dont think so. But I have been wrong a time or two in regards to quarterbacks.
