Go back and look at the roster-building process when MO first joined the Cards. He put together a group of OL who would play together as a unit under the guidance of a good OL coach. We had a solid run game that took the full responsibility of the offense off KM and created space for JC. Then the injuries started---first with Will Hernandez going out and then the record number of injuries in 2025 and the loss of the OL coach.Lost me here
Monti is doing the same this year. You can put together a decent OL with FA/draft when you get the right guys who will function as a unit. Recall last season when both WH and Jonah Williams went out with knees---both came back too soon. The smooth coordination between them was gone with RT JW having lost his explosiveness and agility by coming back too soon. I recall WH getting on JW for allowing the pass rush to get through---the cohesion was no longer there.
We don't need 5 superstars on the OL, we need 5 vet players who will mesh as a unit.
