Yes we want Healthy debate here!

That doesn't mean that fans here have to be overly positive about every move that the Cardinals make. What kills debate isn't whether you are overly positive fan or tend to be more negative/skeptical. It's when posters are so certain they are right and include mockery towards posters who have the opposite belief. That is not healthy debate and I would like to see less of that!

We can all debate a move that the Cardinals have made. The problems come from when debaters start throwing out terms like delusional, unhinged, not a fan, stan, or use the "laughing" emoji on someone's post negatively, etc.

IMO as a community of Cardinals fans we all need to work on having a more healthy debate here in order to make things enjoyable for everyone. Let me give some examples.

Healthy Debate:

"I don't like the Cardinals keeping Rallis as the DC because we all saw how his defense looked last year. Why should we expect anything different this season?"

or

"I'm fine with keeping Rallis as the DC, I think injuries hampered the D, especially during the second half of the season"

Unhealthy Debate:

"The Cardinals are stupid for keeping Rallis, anyone who likes this move is delusional"

or

"How could you not like keeping Rallis? You must not be a fan!"

Can everyone see the difference here? The unhealthy ones shut down all conversation and end by mocking the other side of the debate. Where the healthy ones present your opinion with evidence and don't include the high and mighty mockery targeted at the other side of the debate.
I agree wholeheartedly. One caveat in the form of a suggestion: We create a "callout thread" specifically for the purpose of calling out arrogant posters who ridicule and demean opinions that turn out to be 100 percent accurate. Keep it clean, keep it limited to one thread, but allow some venting.

Go ahead and start one.

And then see how long it lasts.

I was thinking about something like this as well. I think that a Venting thread is an excellent idea but not Venting about other people but venting about the Cardinals and all things Cardinals related.

And, you know, as a follow up, this innocent suggestion was in response to all kinds of Polyanna toxic positivity that facets of this board present that doesn't go policed. Threads and posts just bashing anyone not wearing rose colored glasses, but no one's allowed to respond to it. So, maybe, if the mods ever did something about that, there wouldn't be a suggestion for something like this.

Dude, I'm not trying to upset anyone and I didn't say I was going to make one. I just offered a suggestion. This is a very aggressive response.
Tradition shows that badgering behavior tends to seep into other threads if it is tolerated in one place.

Even in some threads recently, posters have been warned not to continue with intolerant behavior and it continued and the mod stance was ignored and it seemed that was rubbed in the mods face.

Again, the suggestion was to allow responses specifically to badgering behavior.

You know what, I've said my piece on responding to toxic positivity. I will not continue with the opinion nor suggestion. Carry on.

I don’t think he was being aggressive. I read it as him giving you the leeway to do it, but just letting you know that it could get shut down rather quickly. I could see a venting thread getting out of control. It’s all good in theory, but when people start sniping each other and gets out of hand as we see on this board regularly in the P&R forum…. I know that as a mod if I start seeing crap like that, I’m gonna shut it down immediately because I don’t need the hassle.

That's why the Report A Post function exists. Mods aren't on the forum 24/7 and read every post.

Exactly but some people just choose to walk around being offended at everything without realizing that they are the ones being offensive.

I try not to be the poster who reports 10 posts a day, though. That also harms the board, IMO. I'm not saying there's toxic positivity every day, but at specific points it comes out in droves. The recent DC/OL coach announcement. Kyler's extension. Extreme defense of the organization at times, extreme defense of whomever the coach/GM is when they come under heat. At those times, it's a huge problem. But, again, mods would be getting tons of reports per minute.

I'm with you on the rules and not pushing the previously stated opinion. Now I'm merely pointing to some flaws in them.

It's not a perfect system but it is a system.

Much like the Cardinals offense and defense!

See this is a good example of the type of thing that I would like to see leave this board. You could have just said "overly positive" here but you turned it into something extremely negative and I think that is unnecessary. It all goes back to debate the post not the poster.

My .02¢ on the word stan. I had never heard that word used in the context it is used here until I read it here in this forum. My initial reaction, and still my reaction, is that it is used in a derogatory manner on here. I even had to look the word up on line to see it's meaning (don't remember what it said now). In my mind, as the word is used on here, is not meant to be good or nice when referring to someone.

Actually Stan(ley) is my middle name. :Dold . Remember Stan the Man Musial? I was named after him. :D
Wait, you're saying that your name is Gimpy Musial??

Sorry, couldn't resist...things were getting a little too intense ;)

I wasn't referencing any specific poster. And I was simply stating fact; it's not my fault if posters get extremely negative when they go "overly positive."

Okay, but I didn't see Stout being offensive at all here...

I also found ' Go ahead and start one. And then see how long it lasts.' agressive.

If someone had that tone with someone in real life, people would likely find it aggressive.
