It would be such a Cardinals move to just give the fans no quarter, not even an inch nor moment to really be optimistic to introduce this level of turd as OC/mentor for our new young coach.

Regarding Rallis...I'll trust MLs judgement if he decides to retain him. He was part of the game plan against the Cards for several years and he can also ask McVay and Shanny if they all think the AZ defense issues were scheme/play calls or personnel.

Why is everyone so immediately against the thought of Nathaniel Hackett as a (non play-calling) OC? The guy was OC for Jacksonville's AFC Championship game team in 2017 and the Packers were 39-10 over his three seasons there as OC in a similar role to what he'd have in Arizona. Do we just automatically hate anyone who failed as a head coach?

He called plays for Sacksonville? That team wasn't really known for their offense.
Hackett failing so badly in his roles with the Broncos and Jets has given people the perception that he doesnt pull his weight as coach. Sure, he wouldn't be calling plays here either, but that doesnt mean you're excited to add him to the staff.
We could hire Shane Waldron as OC instead I guess if it really doesn't matter.

I get the need for experince to balance out MLF inexperience at HC, but I dont want us to have anything to do with this turd.

The 2017 Jaguars were 5th in points per game, 6th in total yardage per game on offense, and 1st in rushing yards per game. They had a great defense that year but the offense certainly contributed their fair share...with Blake Bortles at quarterback.
Thanks - THIS is the proper way to refer to LaFleur! The "MLF" crowd can still pronounce it that way and snicker to themselves every time they read or write it, and it won't make people think of Matt Leinart.
And there's no need to add an "i" to distinguish him from his brother, since Matt is mentioned on this site far too infrequently to require referring to him by his initials.
LaFleur has two capital letters in his last name - let's settle on MLF.
ML is just fine. I just used MLF for the yuks.
I am mostly curious about DC and OL/DB coaches. I think these are the keys to us not sucking next season.
Well blitzing at a 40% clip and playing high percentage on man coverage would get picked apart against the elite offenses in this division, so not sure why he would be considered then.
I was hoping this wouldn't come up. I'm hoping it's just conjecture because he worked with Matt for many years.
TBF it might be a good option. He obviously did something right at the Packers, he just sucks when calling plays.
Was very much a rushing offense though.
He's not an attractive name but he may well be a good option as a non play calling OC. Obviously did something right with the Packers and Jags. Just sucked as a HC.
I think it is clear that they want an experienced coordinator on either the defensive- or offensive side. So far, the five names connected to the jobs are a former head coach and a longtime coordinator, as well as two coaches with only a little coordinator-experience (and only one of them) and an assistant head coach who have never called plays.
It also keeps my dream of Jim Schwartz and Thomas Brown alive, by the way.
Also, I highlighted Dino Vasso earlier, but I did not know about Cory Undlin, so I did a little research. And it is a very uninspiring story. He has only been the playcaller for one season, and that year the Lions had an absolutely abysmal defense. The entire coaching staff was fired after that season. Since then he has been a pretty successful passing game coordinator (49ers and Texans), but I don’t know how much of those defenses’ success is actually because of him.

Things have changed.
This is what happens when you are the last to hire a HC and its a first timer.
Martindale is old but Michigan looked pretty good. Not sure he’s interested in coming back to NFL, but between the Portal & Michigan’s HC craziness he may be ready to move. He’s aggressive and he’ll blitz from play one. He’s also good developing CBs.

I don't think his name gets thrown out there if he hasn't had a conversation with his agent that he would consider it.
He had a meeting with the Jets some weeks ago about being their defensive coordinator, so I think it is pretty safe to say that he wants back.
