The Lakers defense is freaking terrible. They get killed in transition, play after play.
The Knicks take out their four game losing streak on the Nets, winning 120-66.
That doesn't prove nothing.
Proves the Nets are bad

Btw, what happened to Guerschon Yabusele this season. He appears to be carrying more weight but still...

Wrong system. He was playing a Naz Reid role in Philly and I don't think NY knows how to use him. He does have a player option for $5.75 but he'll have trouble getting that much based on his play this year.
I heard some podcast mention him as a trade candidate for the Suns. If he were playing like last season, I'd consider trading Richards for him but if he is carrying too much weight, I don't think so.
I'd do it for Richards but I'm not sure there's enough time for him to trim down for a postseason run. He has likely put on weight since he hasn't been used and isn't happy, which doesn't speak well of his character. I'd need to know more as to why he's put on weight before anything but Richards is spare parts at this point.
Hayes-Davis isn't helping the team much either. From reports, at Richards has trade value. That $5 million expiring contract helps too.
We need to move Richards to get under the tax and avoid repeater penalties so moving him is more of a necessity. If NHD was making more than the minimum then I'd find a way to move him. I'm not against waving him outright.
I've read so many conflicting reports. IIRC, Spotrac supports the tax apron thought.
Same but almost every article now mentions the need to move Richards to get under the tax line.

Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. not planning to deal Jimmy Butler's contract, ponders Jonathan Kuminga's trade value: 'There needs to be demand'
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 5. The Warriors have a lot to figure out before then.sports.yahoo.com
do we have to get under the tax before we can get back over it/pay gillespie? It sounds like Richards has value, if rumors are to believed, and the Suns could have already traded him if they so desired.
Hope they don't get burned waiting for a better deal.

Technically no, but there are a number of good reasons they would want to, mostly due to being in the repeater category.do we have to get under the tax before we can get back over it/pay gillespie?

The salaries are calculated at the end of the season. Gillespie, if re-signed, will count towards future salary. Suns have some other players in this category.
But Gillepsie can't be re-signed until the offseason. This idea we can extend him or re-sign him before the offseason isn't possible.
