Do we need threads comparing Geno Smith and Murray/Brissett? Ashton Jeanty v. B Knight? Future Bear Maxx Crosby v. Calais Campbell?

You should really read the Athletic deep dive on the Raiders last season before re-endorsing Carroll. He lead the mess including hiring his kid as OL
Coach who had no idea wha he was doing.

I read it. Dude has been awesome for years. I'm not going to judge him on one season.

Whoever we hire will be far worse.

Tomlin has now set an NFL record for coaches with what is now 7 consecutive playoff losses. And none of them have been close. There was a time when the Rooneys were held in high esteem for having had only 3 coaches since the 60’s. Now they look like clowns. Regular season wins are highly inflated when you have had pathetic teams like Cleveland & Cincinnati in your division for so many years.
Sybil, is that you.

I was thinking more Conner, Benson, Nolan, MHJ, Hernandez, DTD, Thomas, Garett Williams, Jonah WIlliams, Mack Wilson, Tipp, Melton, Zay etc

If you don't think injuries were a factor you're lying to yourself.
Seems to me, that by firing the head coach as fast as they could, the Arizona Football Cardinals showed they thought something else was going on.

Brother is Mack Wilson in the fulcrum of your season you deserve to get fired.
I especially like leading with two oft injured RB's, the most fungible position in the NFL, both of whom were doing nothing when the team was healthy.

The injury excuse is looking pretty weak considering this team wasn't even good when healthy!

I feel that. I was a season ticket holder in since they moved to AZ in 1988. I stuck with the team because my Dad did. He is no longer with us.

I called it before the game: if they couldn’t cover the 8.5 point spread v the Titans, I was out.

I am now out.
FYI, we all know once the Bidwills curse you, you can’t get out completely.

Understood - I regret subjecting my son to this as well.
At least we both root for the Spurs and Redbirds - that has been fun over the years.

How/why did you pick the Bears?

I moved to Chicago in 2005. Bears have been pretty much as inept as the Cardinals.
This year has been better, so fingers crossed.

I got to see two Cardinals wins in Soldier Field. Bears’ fans were very tolerant. But from now on, I will have to say “Go Bears”

What about LaFleur as HC & Scheelhaase as the OC?
I would like it a lot, CCF. Scheelhaase has major potential as an offensive genius, but at the same time he is probably content with one step at a time. What I mean is that he is having head coach-interviews this cycle, and he is not even an OC yet. At the same time, LaFleur is obviously also a great offensive mind, so he would be kind of the de facto OC, and thus, I would guess that his actual OC would be either an up-and-comer or a highly experienced guy that doesn’t dream of taking the next step.

I have mentioned many times how a combination of LaFleur and Raheem Morris as his DC is among my favorite possibilities. Him and Morris actually go all the way back to 2015 with the Falcons, so I guess that is a realistic option. Probably Zac Robinson (who LaFleur worked together with), who was just let go by the Falcons, would also be an option as OC, but in my mind, adding a OC-talent like Scheelhaase would be fantastic.

Actually, lately I have started to consider if LaFleur is really my first priority option, even though I have leaned toward Saleh since they let go of Gannon. I think both would be very exciting, but with Saleh it is obviously extremely important who he brings as OC, while that worry is lesser with LaFleur (because of him). I also heard an argument that an OC that has had success with a great quarterback is more risky as a HC because that success probably falls more on the QB. For example, is it that impressive that LaFleur can look good with Stafford as the QB? Well, LaFleur had a lot of success with Jimmy Garappolo as the passing game coordinator in San Francisco, and in retrospect you could argue that he got the very best out of Zach Wilson. To me, that speaks volume, and fixing the quarterback-issue must be priority number 1, 2 and 3 for the Cardinals.

Optimizing MHJ can't come with impeding Wilson or knocking McBride back, though. That's the issue. There are two star receivers already...how do you add a third?
It’s a good question, but I guess it just has to play itself out? I mean, I think that McBride is clearly your #1, and then I would simply let it up to Wilson and Harrison to find out the rest themselves. Call plays as normal, and whoever gets open the most will automatically be the #2. Does that make sense?

That is also why the offensive coaches are so extremely important. No matter how the coaching search ends, the offensive playcaller will have a big task. I would almost argue that the offensive playcaller is more important than who the head coach is. Okay, I know that is stretching it, but almost.

The getable guy that is most appealing to me at this moment is Robert Salah. Not sure if the intra-division move would appeal to him like it did to Ben Johnson.

He knows the division. I just heard Albert Breer say he is very close to Mike McDaniel and could possibly bring along as OC.

I think he's a solid B+ in a world where we ain't sniffing an A candidate. Harbaugh, Stefanski, etc. aren't coming here. They would have to pay up for Saleh, will they?

Do you think we keep adding coaches to interview because past ones are declining our requests? Nothing has come out about it but the number of interview requests is crazy.
