I'm gonna be that guy but is this board incapable of praising Michael Wilson without also trying to tear down MHJ? There are a lot of things about this team to complain about. Two good NFL WRs shouldn't be one of them.

They are both good at being a #1, but really incapable of being a good #2. I don't think they can co-exist in Petzing's offense.

My post wasn't intended to tear him down, but show what MW looks like as the featured guy. Both are talented and could a dynamic duo along with McBride. Its obvious that DP doesn't know to use all 3 together at the same time unfortunately.

i completely agree but i also think wilson has taken the #1 spot from mhj - and if mhj isn't ok with that he can kyler murray - we need to get players who produce the football - brissett will hit whoever is open

Well, Petzing's offense is trash and there is a good chance he is not going to be an OC next year so why does that matter?

Agree! Before we can deterimine who #1 or #2 is, we need to get someone in here that has talent to figure that out! It's not Petzing.

The team will start two WRs and a TE who will get 70% + snaps almost every week. Trey is the #1 option and the other two will battle to make plays off of the coverage McBride pulls. Both get moved around a lot. What does it matter who is #1?

The Cardinals have the best TE in the league and two good WRs (even if they are a bit redundant). The only issue is finding ways to get them all involved. Petzing sucks tho and doesn't seem capable of that which is why he likely is not an OC in the future.

They should fire DP and promote someone on staff to OC (don’t know who though)…maybe Drew Terell….

i think wilson has clearly taken the #1 spot - and it really does matter both on and off the field

you don't do what's best for mhj you do what's best for the team - that's moving wilson to the #1 spot and telling mhj (and his daddy) that he's more than welcome - encouraged even - to fight for his #1 spot back

that's the culture i want in arizona

wilson is an unrestricted free agent in 2027

I think he is smart enough to know you take your money now and not wait another season, especially as a WR. He also is married to someone making decent endorsement money, and a criminally low fútball salary.

this makes me wonder - and there might be a little paranoia in this weed strain - if monti would shop wilson or re-sign and shop wilson - seeing as he's basically been the best receiver in the league when starting at the #1 position - can't believe i just typed that

If you take the 3 games Wilson was #1 without MHJ, he is at

36 receptions
445 yards
2 tds

Over a full season, that is

204 receptions
2521 yards
11 tds
@kerouac9

I'm not saying he would sniff these numbers, just putting in context how remarkable those 3 games have been. More than 60% of his production in 27% of his games.

Wilson is getting these numbers in part because there are no other targets on the offense. This offense is getting counting stats but not winning games or being efficient.

His production wouldn’t go back in the tank with MHJ back and a more sensible offense but it wouldn’t be what we see now. Same if we had anything resembling a running game.

Kyler was a drag on all the WR production but it’s not easy designing a functional offense with a TE at the center without something special around it.

please be that guy

They have a really nice complimentary set of 2 WRs and a great TE

a slot with deep speed would really round things out

for all the terribleness of this year -- finding this out has been a positive

and as I posted in the game thread: the only person who can really limit Mike Wilson is Drew Petzing

Its totally on brand. I used to watch his YouTube series of his off season work. Its always "look at how fast I am by running sprints" "look how strong I am by doing all these weights" etc. He and his dad just dont get it. To be an effective quarterback you have to study your ass off. The physical aspect is only part of the equation. Its usually the top two inches that seperate the average, good and great NFL players.
And there it is...He's two inches too short...LOL

MHJ is a finesse WR with questionable hands but he can be an upper echelon #3 option in the passing game. The fact that neither can have a great game at the same time is an indictment on Petzing (and Gannon for not realizing it).

It's hilarious that people are proclaiming either Wilson or MHJ as a 1. Neither has shown anything close to being a legit #1 WR so far.

I don't know what to tell you. Eyeballs and numbers show Wilson is more suited as a #1.

Nobody is proclaiming either to be #1 studs.

because averaging 150 yards a game as the #1 receiver (with mcbride on the field all 3 games) doesn't show anything close to being a legit #1

meanwhile fantasy football is arguing over starting chase or wilson next week- come on man
