Many were hopeful that Roman Wilson could take a big step forward in Year 3. But what if the unproven wide receiver fails to make the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 53-man roster? That’s unfortunately a situation NFL analyst Max Starks brought to light.
On an episode of The SiriusXM Blitz podcast, Starks questioned whether Wilson could see more opportunities in 2026 or if he'd even make the 53-man roster.
“This is kind of a make-or-break year for Roman Wilson,” Starks said. “Break out, or just breaking and cracking the 53-man roster, I think, either way for Roman Wilson, has to be at the top of the priority list for him to figure out if truly he is going to be a Steeler.”
Wilson, who was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, hasn't exactly done much over the past two seasons. Injuries derailed his trajectory during his rookie year. His second season didn't exactly look much better, as he recorded just 166 yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions.
If Wilson's true focus in 2026 is on earning a roster spot, rookie Germie Bernard may actually have an advantage over the third-year wideout in regard to the WR3 battle at training camp.
