3 years in, and there is a ton to do on both sides of the ball both in the short and long term. You're right though, the talent on D is much more comforting than whatever we have on offense.

Yeah this is just self blinding yourself. Hes literally been called out here week after week making the same tactical blunders in one score losses. Those repeated tactical blunders likely raise the win percentage for him enormously if he learned and adapted from week to week. For a guy who is, by your own admission, “desperate for wins” he sure doesn’t seem to learn how to win them. If the difference in winning or losing one score games can be as slim as a single play. It doesn’t necessitate the level of desperation you paint. It literally just requires a coach to make slight adaptations. He hasn’t. He hasn’t showed the ability to learn and grow.
Sure he did . . . Gannon is going to change his spots and become a more effective leopard. There’s Brit’s argument in a nutshell.
But it’s a GOOD 1-9 stretch!

And unfortunately he’s exactly the type of player this franchise will fraudulently sell as part of the solution coming back next season, depending on an injured, aging RB to bring us back to respectability instead of being proactive and trying to get better.
Can't disagree with this. They are putting him deep in the secondary when his skillset should have him near the line of scrimmage. This is a coaching issue that has been going on for a while now. Even saying that though, his play has declined and there's no way to argue this.
Why would he retire vs making the Cards cut him? He has a $1M roster bonus due early in the offseason and a $6M salary.

If Conner comes back to be a solid backup, getting 12ish touches a games and helping convert tough yards for first downs, I'd call that a win. Aside from the ankle injury, his age won't be doing him any favors.
