I think they should play him when he is eligible to come off the IR, try to build some trade value, but I don't think they will, unless Jacoby goes off the rails, even then...

I think there is some fire behind the smoke. They told him that he was going to backup Jacoby and I think Kyler said "nope, if that is the case I am done". The rest is all just cover to retain some trade value.

I don't see any other explanation for him to go from day to day and practicing to "out 4-8 weeks".

I know he's your guy, but after that Rams playoff game, where they had to talk him into suiting up for the 2nd half... I think he's never faced much adversity as an athlete and when it hits him hard he quits.

Now that were out of the playoff picture, I agree it makes sense to play Murray once he's off IR. Like you said, even if he just plays mid, it will help his trade value in a QB-starved league.

It will also function as his last stand in ARZ. One final chance to prove he can at least be above league average (10-15 range).

And after his stint on the bench, I have a small amount of hope he'll play better.

You’re really good at reading minds.. every positive thing a player says about BBQ isn’t a jab at Kyler, but rather a positive attribute about BBQ
I agree with this. Brissett allows guys to fight knowing he is likely going to still be at his spot or moving up. Kyler was more unpredictable which was a positive and a negative in ways.

I agree that we should do this, for the simple reason that I believe he will play better and up his trade value. Once there are no expectations and zero real pressure, he will likely be better.

the cardinals aren't the only one's who will make that decision - murray would also have to want to play but oh man i'd definitely watch that

Agree to a point. If he gets injured, the Cardinals are in a really bad way.
They’re no worse off than they probably are right now. I don’t expect much in the way of trade offers this season.

I bet Bidwill would love it if the team determined he was healthy enough to play and Kyler said no. I expect that has contract ramifications.

Not like there isn't a precedent. He refused to go in at the end of the horrendous playoff game versus the Rams and made Colt finish off regulation in that one.

Personally, I hope to never see him suit up again as a Cardinal. No need. Plenty of tape on him. Everyone knows what is there.

(a) I doubt Murray will ever deem himself well enough to come off of I/R. He's sat out much longer than expected for every injury he's ever had, no matter how seemingly minor, and this foot sprain is the kind of thing that tends to linger for any player and impact play if it's not 100%.

(b) What possible reason could any one have for believing that Murray will play better if he returns than before he went out? If he plays just as poorly - and worse than Brissett - it will only hurt his trade value.

(c) Gannon already admitted that when Murray is healthy, Brissett is still the starter because he gives the team the best chance to win. If Gannon doesn't want to lose the team, he can't play the guy who makes it harder for the rest of the players to show out, and they all know it.

(d) If he exacerbates his foot injury, or gets injured in some other way, it crushes his trade value - such as it is.

Eh, all he has to say is that his foot still hurts and he doesn't feel that he can protect himself, and there's nothing the team could do about it.

I don’t think that’s the way it works. Especially if you’re looking for a reason
