Buddy the guy I just quoted, the ASU dude, and many others that post in this thread.

Do a search please.
Buddy, I read this thread post by post. No one, not even the most avid Kyler critic, is pinning the entirety of the L on him. Cognitive dissonance much?

When you're grouped with Cam Ward and Bryce Young and only ahead of rookies and backups, you're part of the problem.

What's the point of targeting him in Q1 and then practically never again?

Painful to watch his “Cam Newton” response to the facemask fumble.

And he gets a lot of criticism for that one moment, but he was tough as they come in all other moments in his career.

This was Kyler in a nutshell.

Brother BPB is on record saying he talks to Stefanski.

I promise you K1 is not going to the Browns. Come on people.

My guess is after the season Gannon will be told he has to fire Petzing, and that they're moving on from Kyler. My guess is we'll try to trade Kyler for picks not players but who knows. If you're looking around teams likely to be looking for a QB are the Jets, Browns and Steelers for sure. Browns took 2 QB's this draft so they might not make sense but my gut says neither Gabriel or Sanders are their guy so I am guessing they will take a look at Kyler. I don't think Kyler is Pittsburghs kind of QB. I can see the jets having interest but the Jets are going to have a VERY high pick so they may just draft someone.

I don't think Gannon hates Kyler but he's not going to give up an NFL coaching job if told he has to get rid of Kyler, but I think he probably would tell Stefanski he's better 80 year old Flacco or the 2 rookies you picked so Cleveland MIGHT have interest.

I don't think there's going to be a huge interest in Kyler I think lots of teams filled their QB spots in recent years but I haven't sat there and gone team by team

Got banged up becasue he took on tacklers.

Also because the NFL let defenders target his head. Shameful.

I can’t imagine Gannon standing up for Murray at the end of the season. Maybe it’s Petzing and Murray have to go.

The problem with trading Kyler is there isn’t a robust competition is what is the minimum price where you’d rather just keep him? Dallas got two firsts from a team likely picking in the late teens or lower and a veteran starter for Parsons. Kyler wouldn’t get close to that.

The Cards walk away price is probably a lot lower than you think. I wonder if they’d take on some salary to get rid of him.

Still think the Vikes will come calling this season if the Cards truly want to move from K1.

I dont see it yet.

Gotta wonder why Kyler isnt reaching out to Baker in the offseason. He said backing up Baker was the most important thing in his college career. So why isnt he learning more from him. Baker struggled some in the same system so why not pick his brain more about what can work about it?

Also Baker may be the more mentally tough dude, but I think Baker having more college success has helped him the pros some. He's had more years use to winning than Kyler did. For him it was just 1 year or all the way back to HS.

I used to be a Kyler supporter but these last 2yrs im out on him he can go. He is the first finesse dual threat qb I have ever seen. His a runner in the way vick and lamar but his pure finesse those 2 would take contact or dive for a 1st down. Kyler always slides or looks to run out of bounds never doing what it takes he'll settle for a 4th and 2. He plays qb scared him not being able to read defense or play with timing could be overcome if he didn't play terrified. That intentional grounding yesterday happened because he was terrified of being hit. A spin around twice and chuck the ball away without looking for a yr 7 qb yea time to go

That is my concern as well.

Darnold and Baker had to compete for starting jobs and it took them until their 3rd (4th) team to go off. Same for Daniel Jones.

Not sure Tomlin or Pete Carroll does the small QB thing after Russ. Not sure Stefanski wants another QB who plays outside the system after Watson being a terrible fit.

I thought Dallas would be an option if they move off Prescott, but he's been great. So it could be slim pickings for Kyler and the right place/right time thing might have to happen for him.

Backing up Baker Mayfield or Jalen Hurts for a year is not out of the question.

I think the last time we saw Kyler overly physical was in 2020...maybe 2021.

He looked like a mini Vick, but messed his shoulder up vs the Dolphins. Then the following year his ankle. He falls down way too easily. I dont know if thats just his self preservation or his body in year 7 is wearing down.

Definitely self preservation and scared he will slide short of the sticks even in must have moments

I'm so over him even the way he runs gets to me now. He waddles like a baby and still hasn't learned to tuck the ball.

Dear Lord

Dude was an MVP and took the team to the Super Bowl on his back.

Got banged up becasue he took on tacklers.

I will take that for sure here.
Newton found a measure of success because he had all of Kyler's physical abilities, but was also 7 inches taller. I have no doubt if Kyler had a few more inches in height and a few more lb's in weight, he'd find a way to win more games - a la Newton.

That said, neither of them should be confused as desirable QB's... Neither of them are leaders of men. Neither of them were ever able to consistently win by lifting the team to the level play required to achieve victory.
It's interesting to me how Kyler consistently gets the benefit of the doubt as fans seem comfy tossing out every excuse they can grab hold of, as opposed to placing blame where it belongs.
On the flip-side, Newton rarely, if ever received this type of latitude from the fanbase, as he was constantly the center of attacks. Of course, his choice not to jump on the fumble in the Super Bowl was emblematic of his hideous leadership abilities... sorta like Kyler quiting on his team in his lone playoff game against the Rams.

Cam Newton 75-68-1 as a starter, 2015 MVP, terrible leader (huh?!)

Kyler Murray 38-48-1 as a starter.

Yep... Again, his physical tools carried him. He was a prima donna, a selfish diva and actually fell far short of what his physical abilities promised for his career.

I guess Kyler is just in his bubble, and doesn't see any benefit to changing his approach to how he does things. Not even a little bit. Was it too easy for him in HS and College maybe? But now surely he perceives the danger of him becoming the best that never was (like our boy Marcus)?

He'll get a second shot somewhere, but some of the things the guys here are talking about will still be a concern when he leaves here too.
