Conner is sadly done as a lead back in this league. He was not the same in the 2nd half last year and looks the same this year. He'll power through a couple of tackles but his speed and quickness aren't the same. I really hope they have a plan to move on next year. Benson certainly doesn't look like an every down back at this point.

The Cardinals need skill position players: quarterback, wide receiver and running back. It seems like their needs are always the same.

Btw, the loss to the Niners was not on Murray.

I love Conner but I think people are missing both guys this year are doing the 2.5 YPC thing. For the season 32 carries 95 yards for Conner. if we take away the 2 big runs from Benson yes his average falls from 6 YPC to about 2.4 YPC. If you take the 2 best runs from Conner away, 12 and 9 surprise, he's averaging 2.4 ypc as well.

Conner gets the tough yards when we need him and is the consummate team guy, he will enormously missed, but the problems in the run game this year IMO are on the OL not the RB's.

Skatt had a great game love to see him doing well I will say this, that injury probably means Wilson stays the QB starter longer because now Cam figures to get the bulk of RB1 opportunity and that means they're less likely to also go with a rookie QB IMO.
No doubt this year the run game is an ish show. I think we lost our best coach in the oline/run game coordinator. But Conner had a history of making extra yards that I don’t see benson generating. It’s just not his M.O.

Going into the game Benson had one of the highest yards after contact numbers in the NFL, 3.4. I don't know after yesterday. It was actually his thing in college he had one of the best yards after contact and broken tackles numbers in college his last year.

Conner is a beast, clearly Benson isn't at that level yet. The one thing is we've all said at one point or another is Conner at times is just too slow on some plays that could be big plays. We're already seeing Benson can break those. Consistency will be the issue I honestly expect Carter to be the backup and I think he's pretty good at it. The concern is going to be short yardage where Conner was just a beast

my comment that Skatt starting means Jaxson Dart stays the backup longer didn't age well, they named Dart the starter today/

I still can't believe he's in the NFL. I can still remember being at a family party and our nephew Brandon was talking about Sac State being unbeaten and how his cousin was getting contact from people advising him to transfer to a bigger school because he had a chance to make the NFL.

If you've ever driven through Rio Linda to know where the kid came from to where he is now pretty cool story.

Reminder, the reason he wound up at Sac State out of HS despite breaking all sorts of records in HS is they wanted him to move to safety, and he's now a starting RB in the NFL.

I think Cam would be finding some yards even behind our O Line. It’s a shame the Cards didn’t think he was worth a 3rd rd pick. Maybe they would have taken him with the 4th rd pick.

Would he really? Cam is averaging 3.8 YPC. Can’t imagine he’ll be doing any better behind our poor run-blocking OL.

Wait, you’re loosely related to Skat? Or am I reading this wrong.

not really. My niece(girlfriends niece I call her my niece) is married to Skattebo's cousin. Brandon was the first person I heard talk about him when he was at Sac State and Skatt is his cousin.

when he first transferred to ASU I posted on the ASU board here that they would be happy with him but I had no clue how good he'd be

@Russ Smith Not to get too personal, but how come you and your girlfriend are not married?
