No different than chastising MHJ for dropping a pass, but excusing Kyler for missing a wide open receiver. Goes both ways.
Hes dropped several passes actually and there are plenty of other things the guy is just not doing as a supposed #1 WR.

It doesn’t help that Kyler has been garbage but it looks like he doesn’t even want to be out on the field. All that BS with Fanatics proved to me that football is secondary to this kid. I’m always hesitant to draft players born with a silver spoon. They don’t want it.

He's a bodycatcher and has been his whole career.
How does any kid make it to college, much less the nfl, as a body catcher? I made my players do push-ups if they body caught a ball, in practice or games. Even the 8th graders who I got for the first time and had been body catchers their entire lives - not on my team. Push-ups!

That Fanatics stuff was all about dad IMO.

As for not "wanting it", from what I hear this kid put in extra time all offseason and is always around the facility during the season. That doesn't sound like a kid that "Doesn't want it". I just think that all of the pressure and expectations have gotten into his head.

Not buying it there's a bunch of videos with teammates saying how hard he works and how much he loves football. I think he's just never faced adversity before and is really not sure what to do to.

I don't know what the relationship is but maybe we can get Boldin or Fitz to work with him on some things?

Not to mention his dad was a HOF WR with great hands. No way dad would teach him to be a body catcher growing up.

I've been critical lately of Marvin, deservedly so, his hands aren't an issue. Nor is body catching.

The guy wears out the jugs machine. That was a terrible drop and inexcusable.

I think it's a mental thing. Plus, Kyler's longer passes tend to float a bit.

But, in the end, he needs to make the catch.

Fitz is never around the team, which is sad.

Here's Stroud talking about MHJ on draft night. Lots of praise, but notes that Marv "usually is a body catcher".

I don't think body catching is as bad as many people here, I remember a lot of people blamed Isabella's awfulness on body catching.

Tyreek has usually been a body catcher.

The thing with body catching is it is much more likely to be broken up if you get hit as the ball gets there. In college if you're wide open it's less a factor but we saw it repeatedly last year he failed to pull in balls when contacted because of it.

THe famous drop I remember from Andy was I think Seattle late in the game Kyler threw it deep down the right sideline dropped it right into the bucket, he body caught it got hit and dropped it, game over. Think it was 4th down

Larry had ten more tackles than drops. Amazing.
At #4, you're expecting a top 10 WR in the NFL pretty quickly. I was hoping we'd get a Chase or Jefferson, not sure what we're getting at this point. I never thought the son of a long time NFL player would appear so unprepared and out of sorts 2 years in.
