This is the following play.

One of the things that bothers me about this offense is how often Kyler predetermines his throws. I'm fine with some predetermination if what you see from the defense telegraphs what needs to happen, but the look here isn't great for Tip pre snap or post snap. So I don't understand why he's deciding this is the option considering it's well short of the chains.

If I'm looking for an easy pre snap read here it's Conner but the pass I'd like to see throw is to Marv who's covered by a linebacker with Higgins potentially lead blocking for him on a CB.

There is a positive with the endzone drop.
We all know Marv needs more Dawg in him...and one defining trait in a Dawg WR is ball ownership... no matter who the pass is intended for ..if it's close any Dawg WR has a single thought...
"That's MY phukkin ball!" And he goes after it.
That play was the first time we have seen Marv just go after the ball...he intended to steal that TD catch from Zay Jones...and that's a good thing.....
As long as he ain't really really fast with hands of stone....

But for now I see it as a positive shift in attitude...dude had great hands in college...it's a concentration thing in the NFL.
He will get past it.

honestly if you look at the other angle I think Kyler actually is throwing the ball to Marv not Zay but hard to say.

Doesn't matter though the ball hits him in the hands and he drops it because he has his hands placed incorrectly

This is 3rd and 10 and I just don't like the mindset. I want to see Kyler hit Marv as he's coming out of his break or give Dortch a chance on the far side with a ball towards the sideline. Not check it down behind the LOS with next to zero chance of getting a 3rd down.

Kyler's passing yards per game have dropped from 270 per game in 2021 to 215 in 2022, to 224 in 2023, to 226 in 2024 and through 3 games this season to 180.

It's not Kyler at all though. Everyone else is at fault!

Definitely disappointed to see Kyler an absolutely pathetic 3rd from last for starting QBs in yardage who have played all 3 games (most of the league) and even behind some guys who have only played 2 games.
Ya nothing to do with playcalling at all.. and he def wouldn’t have another 90+ yards and 2 TDs last week if he would have just caught the ball himself.

Take it up with JG he is more than pleased with our offensive performance and prefers this style of play.

Yeah I've changed sharing options in Google drive but have to wait for google propogation to implement it.

I'm hosting on Drive because streamable and others block NFL content.

Yes, absolutely nothing to do with play calling. Seriously. Zero. It's pure cope by Kyler homers.

What everyone else sees? I doubt you can spell tape, you certainly haven't watched any. You can't see anything on TV coverage.

Been declining every year sorry to break it to you. Our soon to be unemployed OC is just way ahead of the curve.

Yes, fractionally. I can't imagine how far up Kyler's butt you need to be to use that as an excuse for the magnitudes greater decrease in Kyer's yardage.

There’s an absolute hole shot available for the receiver lined up on the right if Kyler is brave enough to take it.

That’s a pass that good QBs try.

I don't think Kyler has that club in the bag. I'm not sure he has the ability to get the ball over the LBs but then dip down fast enough to beat the S's coming up. It's a tricky throw.

I'm trying to figure out his read progression. It seems like he is reading to Wilson, then kinda skips over MHJ which I assume is because he reads the two defenders pinching to MHJ which leaves the RB in the flat "open" and he just takes that. What is interesting is if he sticks with MHJ, he has a nice high low with MHJ and then McBride who is running to the flat vs a LB after chipping.

The other thing to point out here is his drop. the ball is snapped from the 39 and he sets up at the 50. That is an 11 yard drop which is really tough on OTs. His throw to Benson is 8 yards behind the LOS.

Very good point. I'll also add a 5 or 6 step drop from the shotgun really throws off the timing and passing angles for the routes that are being ran. I would guess that's not the way it's drawn up.
