We can spend the MLE but if we don't make a trade to lower our salary by seasons end then we'll get hit with some repeater penalties. I think Nick Richards will be traded this year, without a doubt. He's on such a small deal that is expiring that someone will take him on. Teams can use their MLE to absorb salaries in trades now also, which opens up the possibilities when it comes to a team trading for him. We may have to give him away but I wouldn't be against that in February if we needed to in order to avoid repeater penalties.

I wish Precious had a little more range but beggars can't be choosers. He ticks every other box outside of that.

If everything goes according to plan, I think Nick Richards will be traded as well.

I doubt the Suns would use the full/non-taxpayer mid-level exception.

It can get complicated, as the linked article explains the hard cap.

I forgot about the hard cap rules. I purposefully remained ignorant of those during the last CBA and they were fairly straightforward. Now they appear far more complex.

Sheesh. I guess there is a reason franchises hire cap experts now just to keep track of all the rules.

I should call the Bucks and let them know I'm their long lost Antetokounmpo cousin to get a contract.

I am trying to think of other times this happens in the NBA. The obvious example would be Bronny James. Here in Phoenix we signed Goran's brother... "Zoran", and in the end it only further wrecked the relationship when Zoran was too crappy to play.

It's not quite the same, but during Dennis Rodman's tenure with the Bulls, the team kept Jack Haley on contract because he had a reputation for keeping Rodman in line.

We always get the worst brother. We get Robin Lopez. We get Joe Reaves, instead of Austin. There's more. I just can't think of them.

I hate that guy telling Maluach to dribble higher, like he did in their first video. Gotta get that kid over to Magic for how to dribble as a big man.

I obviously thought of those guys, but at least in the case of Robin Lopez and the Morrii brothers and even the Van Arsdales, while one brother might have been lesser, at least both were NBA players.

Bronny James, Giannis' brother, Zoran Dragic... these are all guys that would not sniff the NBA if not for their star powered family member getting their back scratched.

Giannis' brother is the most egregious. He's now entering season 7 in the NBA and he is flat out terrible, no other player that bad has hung around in the league, he's basically a joke, a human victory cigar. There was a third brother bouncing around for a bit, the Lakers had him, and I think someone else, but the only reason those teams signed that guy was to try to lure Giannis there... so that family has double dipped in utterly hopeless players getting contract in an effort to extend flowers to a talented family member.
