Yeah but it sucks a little Bach that any kind of positive data about KM's performance immediately gets spun by his detractors as somehow being "bad".

I know Murray needs to be better. Especially, especially in those critical season-deciding situations. Tons better.

But we could be working from a worse platform than 9th best QBR rating in the league from 2024. Way worse.
agree.
I am on the recorrd for being OUT on Kyler.
But we could do horribly worse than him.

But...(here comes your spin)...that is exactly part of the problem. Kyler is just good enough to keep us in Quarterback purgatory.
Not good enough to win it all... but also not bad enough to get a draft pick high enough to effectively replace him.
Leaving us in position to flirt around with the playoffs every year but never go deep into the post season....a situation that is far worse than going 5-12 every year

Stout you old rascal!

I want you to get fired up about Kyler Murray being your QB1 for the upcoming 2025 season! Get up on your feet and make some noise! :)
Sorry, my friend :) He's got to show it in meaningful ways through consistency and success first. I need the clinching of playoffs, I need a playoff win, and such. I'm not from Mizzou--although I did basic training there--so he needs to show me :)

The above is what strikes the most fear into the hearts of the Murray faithful because it hits too close to home. It's the most likely way his tenure in AZ will have to come to an end.

Still (and much to the chagrin of his primary detractors) while there are scenarios where K1 could be traded after this season, the ultimate decision on his fate as a Cardinal likely won't be made until after the 2026 season.

So, my man probably has a long, long time remaining in Cardinal red, and he'll have many, many more opportunities to prove he's the the guy in AZ. He'll keep working. Whether it will be enough to get over the hurdle you describe above remains to be seen.

Either we compete and make the playoffs or look for us to draft a qb in round 2 because we won’t have a high enough pick to get an elite one in the first round. Either Kyler’s stays another year ( probably) or the we trade him and Brissett becomes our starter.

Round 2 QBs are pretty butt. 1 in 4 chance you get the next Andy Dalton.

Since the turn of the century there have been 25 QBs taken in the second round of the NFL draft (the best ones in bold):

How is Geno Smith not bolded here if your metric is NFL starter?
