That is a really poor return for Geno. It's not better than a late first in a deep draft. It's only reasonable if they know he is resigning here.

It really is making me angry that the Dbacks seem to be trying hard to help Seattle out. I hate that team!

The fact that there are so many highly-coveted D-Backs players on the market is an indication of how this team is playing far beneath its potential. That’s coaching and managing. This fire sale is an indictment on Torey’s managing prowess

Yeah, let's disregard the 4 TJ surgeries and the other pitcher's injuries. We were 4th in MLB in runs produced, and all of our star relievers and our Ace are out for the season. Torey's job is on the line as it should be, but he did not create this mess. But, I don't think he will survive this, and we will see how the next-up guy does.

Locklear is rated by MLB Pipeline as the #8 First Baseman in the entire minor league.

This season isn’t on Torey but it’s the perfect season result to get rid of him. We’ll see if they pull the trigger.

Now we need to see Lawlar and Locklear as everyday starters for the rest of the season to give them some ABs.
Aside from Lawlar being hurt, he ain't it...and I think the Dbacks know it already (they'll still give him one more look though). They are gonna give Blaze more play at 3rd, while Lawlar is hurt, to see if he fielding has improved (it already looks like it has).

I like Tawa more than Alexander. The only thing about Blaze that has impressed so far is his arm. Tawa did a good job in both the IF and OF and has a lot more pop in his bat than Alexander does.

At any rate, they need to give Lawlar an opportunity playing every day to see if he can hack it. He's been their best prospect for a couple of years, it's time to give him an opportunity to see if he can get it done.

Hard to see how Torey survives this season… though this year is far more about the historical number of injuries, this is life as a MLB Manager, where your survival is less about fairness, and more about timing and optics.

The return for Geno, who will be 35 next July, seems about right to me.

And for the record, the Dbacks are going nowhere if Blaze, and/or Tawa, and/or Lawler are everyday players…unless of course Lawler suddenly learns how to hit a major league curve ball - which isn’t likely at this point in his career.

Seattle is a dumpster fire of a city so I agree with you completely. I never liked the Mariners as a team. Ken Griffey Jr. - he was great. At least Hazen made a significant move at the trading deadline. We'll see if Gallen and Kelly are gone today too.

I don’t hate Seattle but I still don’t think they make the playoffs.

Lawlar just turned 23 , I’m willing to give him a bit more time to figure it out.

While Torrey has his faults as a manager at times I think he will get a pass this year. All the pitching injuries will be the excuse. Watching our AAA bullpen is awful most of the time but really didn’t expect anything different. Just a shame how the year has gone with so much excitement heading into this year.

I think the Dbacks did fine for a rental. MLB ready player in a position of need, two good pitching prospects

Torey's struggles aren't limited to just this year, IMO.

And agreed - the three might be good utility players, but not everyday starters.

Here is a nice article on Tyler Locklear on how he made an adjustment to his stance.

Getting anything credible for Suarez was solid. His contract is done this year, so for a short rental, hopefully we got some kind of assets.
