Buuuutt...with Darnold learning a new system getting the hags in the first month is an advantage
Seattle's line is still a weakness with their only upgrade being a rookie and Darnold being bottom 5 under pressure last season. That is a must win for sure!

Oh he injured it training before camp. Wonder when that happened?
He was full go in OTAs right? I know some of the rookies skip certain drills before they have signed their contracts.

He must've hurt it over the last month or so. It's a bummer but I feel like rookies often get injured. The stress they put their bodies under training for the combine is a different kind of stress vs. daily football.

Fine tuning the machine for top speed and strength is different than training for a 6 month football season.

Not kidding. Beachum and Jones are good for your #3 and #4 options.

Brown is good for back-up C.

Multiple back-up guards with starting experience.

Nothing wrong with he floor. It’s the ceiling that is the problem.
We have 5 starters on this roster and 3 are tackles. The rest are unproven or journeyman. Could they be ok, sure? But there is zero evidence to prove that right now.

I still find it really bizarre that we sat on, what, 25 million bucks in cap room and are going into the season with pretty big questions on the O-line while making no upgrades at the skill positions either this offseason.

Having a new OL coach generates questions and unknowns. Worries me more than the assembled players.

There is actually great depth on the OL. The problem is starting level players at RG and RT
Gotta disagree. We are good at OT...maybe not so good that I wouldn't draft another... but Jonah is solid if unspectacular so long as he is healthy... and Jones showed strong improvement with the forced playing time last year..he may be better than Williams by mid season..and almost certainly by next...
RG...is a question mark.
Adams gained a ton of experience and got better. How he handled his off season will determine his quality...if he gained enough strength to stop Seattle from bullying him then he will be fine...the teams attempt to sign Freis demonstrates a lack of faith but likely also served to light a fire under his ass.
Depth behind Adams could be an issue. The team has apparently decided to save Gaines for Frodos backup so we will never know if he could play guard.
If it were me... I would start Jones at RG..we can kick him out to RT if Jonah goes down...use Adams as the backup RG and save Beach to backup PJJ

Agree. Our last guy was good and got the best from his players.
Keeping him could have been a bigger benefit than any FA..
But I will give the new guy the benefit of the doubt until we see the product on the field

I think they did this because they want the flexibility for 2026. Even with carryover, the Cards have just $13.5 million in cap space going into next year. We don't have a ton of FAs to fret about (Jonah Williams and Jalen Thompson are likely gone to be replaced by 2024 draft picks), but Garrett Williams and Paris Johnson Jr. will be extension-eligible.
