You left out “The entire concept was developed as an ER spin-off”. Context matters but if you want to harp on a single aspect? Episode format choice changed absolutely everything. LOL.

Sure.

But the words in the current show was written by the two main people running the show now. Not by Crichton or anyone from his estate.

His widow cannot claim ownership of any part of The Pitt, unless she wants to also claim ownership of every show since ER that has involved an emergency department.

I am not saying they will win the lawsuit. However, if they pitched it to the estate as an ER spinoff if might have legal legs. Simply changing the name of the show and characters might not hold water in court. Other ER shows didn't pitch their shows as sequels. It hasn't been thrown out yet which makes me believe it could have legs. Who knows.

They pitched to use the ER show's name in continuation.

But the writing was all theirs.

They didn't use the ER brand.

The writing and everything in The Pitt now currently does not involve the ER show in any capacity.

If Crichton's widow wins anything from her stupendously asinine and greedy lawsuit, that would be a massive miscarriage of justice.

They basically approached her and said "we'll do all the work, just allow us to use the name and we'll send you lots of money."

She said no, so they took THEIR work and used a different name.

There you go again, not getting the point. It doesn't matter what it was pitched as. They most certainly did NOT just change the name of the show and characters. That is very simple to see.

What point am I not getting? The lawsuit was filed some time ago and not thrown out. So it might have legs. Plus, what information do you have about the original pitch verses what they did? I have not read any details that would allow that conclusion. Care to share? I can't find anything.

AGAIN...let me be clear. I didn't say they would win the lawsuit. Only that if it was as simple as you say it would have been tossed already IMO. It still may get tossed. THE POINT IS, I don't know that and neither do you.

Ah, you're trying to discourse about the difference between the pitch (which we can't because nobody knows the actual pitch) and the show and not the difference between ER and this show. This is not ER in any way, shape, or form. As to what they pitched? Who knows what it was?

We will have to disagree. Other than the episode format it's a similar show to ER (including it's lead). That's also my point though. You can't draw any conclusions because we don't know the pitch.

Thru 5 episodes, Season 2 is solid but it’s not reaching the excellence the show consistently hit in Season 1 for me.

Not crazy about any of the new characters they brought in and so far there just seems to be a lack of… something… I can’t put my finger on.

Still solid, just not as spectacular as Season 1 so far.

I'm in complete agreement. Love what they're doing with the MCs but the new characters, outside of Robbie's temp replacement, aren't doing much for me. Still solid as all get out with high stakes and consequences, and I'm sure once the crazy really kicks off it'll be bananas good. Still appointment TV.

I agree, the two new med students just seem like caricatures to me, which is unfortunate. Even so, the show is still one of the best currently on television. All the leads are just fantastic.

And up until the last episode, they really did very little with Robbie’s foil Dr. AI. Now there’s a little more mystery to her, but I’m not sure i care.

Does seem like they’ve now laid the groundwork thru seven episodes and the chaos is about to really kick in. Last two episodes of the season have been their best.

A nit I guess, but nurse Dayna's new accent (Pittsburghese?) is kinda distracting. I almost need subtitles just to understand her this season.

Another great last couple episodes. This week's not quite on par with the previous, but still great. A LOT happened this week.

Pretty nICE episode.

Those weekly cliffhangers really make we look forward to the next episode. Kinda like old school episodic television in that regard.

This season, while still very, very good comfort food, just isn’t coming close to how special I thought Season 1 was.

It pisses me off in a really, really good way. Like, I'm screaming inside that we aren't getting more right now rather than pissed that they're going for cheap drama. Very well done.

The intro of ICE may be a nice ignition point.

They really half assed the ICE seen based on how good everything else in the show is.
What exactly did you want? I think they did a pretty good representation of what would happen in an ER if ICE brought someone in. What did you want Robby to do, go all Rambo and have a shoot out?

Just based on the standard of show it was more Grey’s Anatomy than The Pitt.
