Wyle  BIM

I've always liked him as an actor. We were actually both born on the same exact day (6/4/1971) and only a few miles apart. He was born in Hollywood, and I was born in Van Nuys (approx. 13 miles away).

Useless trivia I know but still kind of cool. Usually, you look to see who you share a birthday with, and it is someone famous who is either 20 years older than you or 20 years younger than you, but rarely someone exactly the same age as you.

I usually don’t like this kind of show but I gave it a chance and I loved it. Super bingeable show.

That idiot woman suing because she thinks this rips off ER is probably convinced any medical drama involving an emergency department is a ripoff of ER.

I saw a Youtube video of a doctor critiquing the show, and for the most part, it is extremely accurate from that perspective.

There is A LOT more to it than that. That “idiot woman” originally developed the idea with the producers of this show as a LITERAL EXTENSION of ER… and negotiations apparently got super messy and then they decided to go ahead with the show without her.

Fantastic show, either way.

Mm, the way I read it, they decided to go a different direction and not as a literal extension of ER. Once that was off the table, they pivoted to this--which, BTW, is little like ER. She hasn't a leg to stand on, it seems.

I had a maaaajor social work critique that they got 100 percent wrong (for doctors as well, who are mandated reporters). They did the opposite of the law because they needed it for the story. Super annoying, but only for a small subset of fans, and I love the show nonetheless.

Yeah… with the same EP/writers/Star of ER… all whom were negotiating with the Crichton estate AND MAX on a ER reboot… and then just bailed and made a very similar show. Just a total coincidence.

And if she didn’t have a leg to stand on, you’d think the court would have thrown the case out when WB filed to have it dismissed… SIX months ago, in Nov 2024.

My wife (not me) just started watching (bingeing(sp?) ) this show the other day.
Not me so much. Have never cared for or watched doctor/medical shows. No interest at all.

I never cared for or watched doctor/medical shows either, but I enjoyed this. Since each episode covers 1 hour of a 15 hour shift it has a different feel than most medical shows.

I have watched 4 or 5 episodes.
Not the type of show that I normally sit and watch a season in a day. But definitely not horrible, entertaining in fact, and at times even interesting

Except it's not a similar show. The only similarity is that it takes place in an ER. She doesn't own medical dramas set in an emergency room. She's just mad they made a show without her.

Word is they changed NOTHING other than the characters and location. The entire concept was developed as an ER spin-off. That's a stretch to say it is NOTHING like it. I think they are very very similar other than ER became very SOAPY at the end and this show doesn't come off that way. Evidently, the lawsuit might have some wings. It's coming up on a year pretty quick and still not thrown out.

Because yeah, ER took place over one shift on one day in an ER. So similar :sarcasm:

This news is a bit of a bummer:

I thought it was a little odd that her character didn’t show up again in the back half of the first season. She went home and then when things went crazy she was the only doctor that they weren’t able to get ahold of. I thought that was weird.

same. makes me think there had to be some issues going on off-set there for her to just be written out of Season 1 and not return for S2.

I said the concept. Not the format of the episodes. LOL.
You said "Word is they changed NOTHING other than the characters and location." That ain't just a reference to concept. Unless you now wish to retract that they changed NOTHING (your caps, not mine) other than the characters and location? Because that's clearly BS.

You left out “The entire concept was developed as an ER spin-off”. Context matters but if you want to harp on a single aspect? Episode format choice changed absolutely everything. LOL.
