I have zero interest in playing the game and thought I would never care about an associated movie. I will say that they have made it look like smashing fun (pun intended).

Wow did I underestimate this one. $157m domestic for the weekend. I underestimated the kid factor on it. With how bad the trailers were for it I was thinking it would still do well with the kids but more like $90m-ish domestic. I'm surprised by the $157m. It's great to see though for the theaters with the way this year has started.

Update: the preliminary numbers were low. It ended up just a hair shy of $163m domestic and did another $150m international for worldwide total of $313m. :notworthy:

My wife and daughter wanted to see Snow White this weekend. When I took them, I had seen a ton of kids for Minecraft 3D. I kind of figured it might be big but not that big.

Both my boys enjoyed it. The first half was decent, I was able to take a nap the second half. Our local cinema has leath reclining seats, so it is hard not to!

This thing made more money than freaking Barbie’s opening weekend!

Man… we are smack dab in the mid swing right from the comic book movies to video game movies.

I think I scoffed at the idea that Zelda could be as big as Mario a couple years ago, but what the hell do I know at this point?

I like the game when I've played it, but not an expert like my kids are. I went to the movie and it was actually funny and better than I expected. My daughter thought the movie would be lame and ended up enjoying it.

I'm really interested to see the route they take with Zelda. There's so much lore in that franchise that they could make it into an epic fantasy instead of treating like just another video game movie. Personally, I'd love to see that. Zelda's been my absolute favorite video game series since I was 12 and got my first gold cartridge for the NES. If it gets a LotR treatment I'd be in heaven.

That's my exact thoughts as well.

Really fun movie. My son is an expert. The crowd interaction made it really good time.

I cannot even begin to describe how utterly awful this movie was. Directly after work showing to kill a bit of time before dinner. Hey, at least I got a good nap once the movie really got going. Woof! Momoa was fun, and...Momoa was fun.

“My Dad said math was debunked.”

Brilliant!

Love the reference to Double Dragon. Spent a lot of time in the basement of the ASU Student Union playing the game while I was supposed to be working elsewhere on campus.
