They don't have to. They can give him 1 more year, get NEs #1 next year and have draft capital to move up if they still aren't sold on him.Chicago is not keeping Fields and giving him 250 million+.
New England arguably has the worst offensive talent in the league. Anything can happen, but it would make NO sense to give up capital when they still can get a very good QB prospect where they’re at.They don't have to. They can give him 1 more year, get NEs #1 next year and have draft capital to move up if they still aren't sold on hi.
I dunno...rumor has it, repaired ACL's are actually stronger... one might consider Penix to be a much lower risk than the other guys. Especially since he is more of a pocket QBPennix is arguably the best QB in the draft on production but he's had 2 full ACL surgeries already. I'm not sure there's anything he can do to move himself up into the top 5 because of the injury history. Has a weird motion but very strong arm, but I think the knees will scare anybody from taking him top 5.
Not a big Daniels fan
Was really hoping Pats would win today but didn't happen
But teams don’t generally do that. Especially when they have the #1 pick staring them in the face. They don't have to. They can give him 1 more year, get NEs #1 next year and have draft capital to move up if they still aren't sold on hi.
I agree. Why give up a first when any one of these top 3-4 QB's could turn out to be the best in the draft.New England arguably has the worst offensive talent in the league. Anything can happen, but it would make NO sense to give up capital when they still can get a very good QB prospect where they’re at.
They did exactly that last year. That exact thing. But teams don’t generally do that. Especially when they have the #1 pick staring them in the face.
Head to head is not a criterium. Can someone explain to me why Washington drafts ahead of us? I thought head to head would be over strength of schedule. Washington beat us but they draft ahead of us.
Honestly think the Cards need Beli to not go to Washington or not return to NE.I 90% doubt Chicago will keep Fields. Honestly believe the Fields era ended against Cleveland
I dunno...rumor has it, repaired ACL's are actually stronger... one might consider Penix to be a much lower risk than the other guys. Especially since he is more of a pocket QB
Could definitely happen. Chicago would be thrilled with this scenario.NE trades up to #1, picks Caleb. Washington take Maye and Chicago takes MHJ ar #3.

Because, as of this moment, it appears to be a drop off after the top 2. That could change, but if you're a new GM, you want your guy.I agree. Why give up a first when any one of these top 3-4 QB's could turn out to be the best in the draft.
He's right. The way they micro drill now is a medical wonder. Not sure I buy that. It's not like a pitcher having Tommy John surgery where the elbow comes back stronger.
And keep in mind he tore the same ACL twice. He also had a clavicle and shoulder injury but it appears he's fully back from that given his arm strength.
Oh man there's gonna be so much hype and and anti-hype in the next few monthsAny chance that there might be a 3rd QB that gets hyped up enough before the draft to become a top 3-5 pick?
Fields was still earlier in his contact and signing a long term extension or picking up his option wasn’t at the forefront. They did exactly that last year. That exact thing.
He could threaten to sit out without a contract extension but I’d imagine he wouldn’t have too much leverage. They don't have to. They can give him 1 more year, get NEs #1 next year and have draft capital to move up if they still aren't sold on hi.
Torn his ACL twice. Many teams see that as a red flag. What about Penix Jr? If he plays tomorrow night like he did last weekend.. wow. I'd take him over Caleb any day.
This is where we disagree.it appears to be a drop off after the top 2
And Fields looks light years better this year. He looked horrendous in 2022 and adequate at times in 2023. If anything, that shows he's developing.Fields was still earlier in his contact and signing a long term extension or picking up his option wasn’t at the forefront.
This year it’s either commit to him or move on.
This would be what generally happens to us.NE trades up to #1, picks Caleb. Washington take Maye and Chicago takes MHJ ar #3.
You're probably right. I hate Daniels as a pro and Pennix to me is one of those great college QB who won't translate to thr NFL. QBs are the hardest, IMHO, to predict. This is where we disagree.
NE trades up to #1, picks Caleb. Washington take Maye and Chicago takes MHJ ar #3.
I can at least buy this.Honestly think the Cards need Beli to not go to Washington or not return to NE.
I know you disagree, but he's stubborn enough to just get a vet QB and take MHJ.
