1 - The two spots he plays are also played by Hern/Jones/Beachum. If they are comfortable with one of Beachum/Jones/Murray backing up LT then I think it makes more sense to keep him.
2 - I don't know that Murray is anything better than below average.

Does he take away from our comp picks next year?
If Kugler thought he was valueless he wouldn’t have been signed. As to Giants’ coaching it not just about technique but line strategy. How well did the Center ID potential stunts & blitzes. How motivated was anyone in NY. I’m willing to have an open mind. He’s strong. He looked sound in college. He’s low risk. Plus the Cards still have Murray, who was decent. Will this change draft strategy? It depends who’s available. I don’t yell until I’m hurt.
He started 2016 at LG, played all 16. Started 2017 at RG before being dropped for Oday Aboushi.
He actually started a whole season at LG. Only managed 2 games at RG before being replaced for sucking.
So much for that theory.
Nobody knows the contract details yet but doubt it

I think Justin Murray is an average NFL player. People on this forum tend to overrate/underrate. Murray played well for games at a times, but also got beat as well. A below average NFL lineman in my eyes would be someone like Brady Sowell. Justin Murray is better than that guy. In fact, I think Justin Murray is better than most of the Cardinals OL I've seen over the years. Not saying much, but he isn't terrible.

Mark Glowinski is more of a case study on how some OL just take a few years to blossom. I've watched the NFL since the mid-90's and I've seen this happen over and over. That's why deals like the Hernandez deal can sometimes blossom. If I were the Cardinals, I would have wanted a 2nd year at a cost controlled amount.

PFF says he allowed 7 sacks last year which was 3rd. I think they mean 3rd most not fewest seems obvious.

Mark Glowinski is a case study of trying to fit a square block in a round hole(shoutout to Steve Keim), ala putting him at LG even though his natural fit was RG.

Haven't read the thread but a Giants site says 2020 he started 7 games at LG, then got Covid, when he came back he didn't start any games was used off the bench as they were still clearing him for a full game medically. that was the first year of Covid nobody really knew anything so presumably they were being cautious.
2021 he started all 17 games but at RG as was said here, he'd never played RG before and had his worst year.
So hopefully we're not planning on playing him at RG, the Giants site says he allowed the 4th most sacks by a Guard, PFF says 3rd most.

We don't know yet. Pugh originally played RG for us. He was drafted as a guard but played RT his first 2 years in NY then moved to LG. When we signed him he played RG until he got hurt and missed the rest of the year. The next year he played LG.
So maybe the plan is move Pugh back to RG and put Hernandez at LG?
No idea just saying Pugh has played both sides and when we originally got him we put him at RG
So if you watch this 2019 midseason Highlights video for him you can see the strength and physicalness that he plays with. This is what has me excited about him. He brings an attitude to the OL. I'm exctited to see what he can do playing next to a guy like Hudson!

Yeah, apart from the bit you missed out about him only being dropped and cut once he moved to RG.
You made out he was good at RG in college, played LG in Seattle then was good again when he moved back to RG. Which isn't true.
It was actually being so bad at RG in Seattle as a starter that he was dropped, fell to 4th on the DC then was cut. Which is kinda important and completely invalidates the point you was trying to make.
I really don’t understand what do you get after defending bad move after bad move, lol.

If he was average we would not have only signed him to a 2 year extension. Guy is completely replaceable which makes him below average. He isn't bad, but he is not ok either. His value comes from being able to play RG and RT, being cheap, and knowing the scheme.

Its as simple as this. You, and nobody else here, has the first clue if this is a good move or a bad move. Nobody will until the season starts.
Its your opinion this is a bad move. Disagreeing is not defending it.
I can see reasons why he struggled in NY that can be overcome.
This happens every off season with exactly the same posters. Keim sucks. This move Keim made sucks. X, players is too old, too inexperienced, too injury prone, plain bad (delete as appropriate).
All that changes are the names of the players.
And like last season nobody ever owns it when they are wrong (except Solar7) and doles out the usual "Well at the time.." OT "Just saying it as I see it".
Yet we all have to suffer the mind numbingly boring moaning. All. The. Time.
