Undoubtedly, Shrimboat's going to score between $40M and $45M.
And yes, he's worth 10 - 15 less than that.
No matter what they pay him, I guarantee many fans are not going to cut him much slack. If he picks up where he left off last year, he's getting booed. I predict serious sulking on the horizon...
If you are a starting QB and not on your rookie contract, you will be making way more money that 'people think they are worth.' QBs are always going to make 20-25% of the salary cap, or more. (at the time of their new contract)

Oh, and fans have been giving Kyler slack since he was drafted. Why would anyone expect that to change?

You don't think that Justin Herbert will end up with more money than a deal signed this year when the cap will likely rise 30 million next year and he will be guaranteed a top 10 salary, a top 5 salary, and then a top 2 salary just by the tags?

This is the start of the next huge jump in QB salaries.

50 million is 21.4% of the expected cap next year and just 25% of the expected cap this year.

So yes this will be the contractual norm.

He deserves it. Look how many playoff appearances GB had between Bart Starr and Brett Favre.

You do realize that player contracts are not only awarded on what they have accomplished, but their potential as well right?

Herbert will; KM won't, or shouldn't.

I'm talking about money per year. We surely aren't THAT stupid, to give KM more than 50 million per? Ugh.
I'm not sure. If I had to wager, I'd say 40/60 that he doesn't get 50.

Are you just here to argue?
Not at all. You want something more specific? Here ya go:

IMHO, I believe Bidwill, Keim and Kliffy know what they now have in Kyler. They know they are now F'd, as they picked another first-round QB, only to see it blow-up in their faces.
The difference here is that Murray possesses physical gifts Leinart and Rosen didn't. So, Kyler will resemble the joystick QB, make his share of flashy plays and win a bunch of regular season games in the first half of the season.
The Cards are in a no-win situation. They are now forced to choose from a bunch of terrible choices. If it were me, I'd trade his sorry arse, grab a bunch of draft picks and start over once again...because to me, paying this turd $40 Million a season to win a bunch of meaningless games, is far worse than going the trade for picks route...

Like Keim & Kliff, you guys better brace yourselves for this Kyler extension.

Only difference is, despite all the warranted criticisms, I believe there is still a ceiling he hasn’t reached. With Keim, he already reached his.

How many league MVP's does Kyler have?

Kyler is 24 years old, these takes are comical. Aaron Rodgers hadn't even started a game at Kyler's age and you people would have been begging to cut him.

If your QB doesn't win multiple MVP and Superbowl by age 24 don't pay him? Get real.

Here we go...

How about when Aaron Rodgers was 24, he wasn't throwing hissy fits and social media tantrums and demanding top QB money?

You don’t get rid of Kyler before you do the FO.

I don't know Rodgers timeline by heart, but how could he? He wasn't really playing yet.
