I’m rooting for the Niners to sneak pass the Rams…imagine they mortgage for the future and don’t even make the playoffs this year

Can’t read the article. But are you saying it doesn’t concern you that Vallejo and walker play ahead of Collins? And when I say “concern” I don’t mean it worries me for our success this season, I mean it worries me that a guy we picked in first round isn’t judged a better option 13 games into the season then JAGs by our coaching staff. The defense is playing well. We obviously don’t need Collins to be playing. So it’s not a concern from that perspective. More a “how come he’s not better than Vallejo and walker at this point?”
There you go making all kinds of sense.

I'd care if the Cardinals were 4-8...

The Athletic article pretty well states EXACTLY what the non-Darksiders are saying about the situation.

What I don't get with Collins is we have had a tonne of big leads.

We were up 3 scores vs the Bears late in the game. Why aren't they giving him experience when the game is dead?

I don't want to sound hyperbolic here but...

I think Kyler's MVP hopes and the #1 seed all ride on this game.

If we lose, I don't think either happens. If we win, I think strong chance both happen.

So no pressure, at home, in prime time.
I don't think you're wrong. Sadly, because of missing a few games, the best QB faces an uphill slog to the MVP, and I do think an L here in prime time kills our hopes. Also, we really need to keep winning to hold onto the #1 seed. If we get it, I'm confident we make the SB. If we don't, I think it's going to be super tough, given this team hasn't "been there" like other teams.

Tom Brady holds firm as MVP favorite

Tom Brady is accomplishing many things at the age of 44. One of those accomplishments may be to win the MVP award.

PointsBet has the Buccaneers quarterback at +175 to win the prize for the fourth time in his career.

There’s a sizable gap between Brady and the next guy on the list, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He’s at +600. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray comes in at +750, and Bills quarterback Josh Allen has fallen to +1000 after being the early-season favorite.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott sits at +1200, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at +1400. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has regressed to +1600 along with Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, the non-quarterback with the best odds.

Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt presents the best value by far, at +25000. On track for 24.0 sacks, if Watt breaks that single-season record of 22.5 and if Pittsburgh makes it to the playoffs, he could get some votes. PFT’s Charean Williams, who holds one of the 50 Associated Press votes, said on Tuesday’s #PFTPM that her two current finalists are Murray and Watt.

As a practical matter, the true favorites will be the quarterbacks of the No. 1 seeds in each conference. But a historic performance by a non-quarterback can help someone like Watt get there, like it did with running back Adrian Peterson in 2012.

Thus, the ongoing scrum or the No. 1 seed in each conference will go a long way toward determining the M

Its all about the mental side. Vallejo has been around for years so he has a much better grasp of the defense.

Look at how much better Hicks has been in year 3.

Veterans who have a much greater grasp. Even Joe Walker has been around the team for two ish years.

Mentally Vallejo is better.

Yea there is no way a Cards stadium was 60% ram fans…. Gross over exaggeration.
40% is a gross exaggeration. 60% is flat out comical.

At Sofi there were tons of Cardinals fans, but it was still probably 10%. We were loud enough to hear us cheer as we spanked them in their house.

Who's house? CARDINALS HOUSE.

because he hasnt been given the proper amount of in game experience as a rookie due to Hicks playing at a much higher level during a championship run.

he'll be fine, just gotta ride the pine for a little bit

Here is the problem I see. We are 3-2 at home and 7-0 on the road. If we lose this game we are 3-3 at home. I would go with what is working and be ok to play on the road. The #1 seed hasn’t made the Super Bowl a lot recently. I want the number 1 seed because it means we go 15-2 14-3 minimum. But we haven’t looked great at home

It's underrated how difficult Joseph's scheme is. Especially on linebackers. It's taken Hicks, who was an experienced vet, 2 years to get comfortable in it.

In hindsight we were all a bit silly to expect Zaven to start game 1. On saying that, he should be playing more, especially in garbage time.

Yeah maybe 10% Rams fans.

The Rams don't really have a huge following.

@Corbin even LA, the Rams are like the 6th most popular team here. I'm exaggerating for effect, but the Raiders have a much bigger fanbase in their own city.
Agreed. That’s been my experience living out here for 20+ years. Raiders and USC much higher on the pro football totem pole than the Rams who are a skosh above the chargers bc they’ve been a playoff team.

Totally agree with all of that. I'll even take it one further, to say that if situations were a bit different, it would have worked out better for the raiders to have come back to LA and the Rams to go to Vegas.

Right, but Simmons got play over those JAGs last year, so it doesn’t concern you that Collins is apparently that slow on the proverbial mental uptake?

Some of you guys’ takes makes it seem like you believe the mental side is a fait accompli. Like it will come no matter what with time. But the truth is, that’s what often comes between supremely physically talented people and great football players. We already know Collins is physically talented, but if he’s incapable of the mental side he becomes looks like Tarzan plays like Jane material. So the fact that you stating that week 13 into his rookie season he’s still behind JAGs mentally should be at least some cause for concern. Again, forget Hicks, he’s not playing behind guys who might not see the field on many teams.

Actually, it's become more important. There are several articles up through 2020 talking about the importance of getting the number one seed and making the super bowl. The buccaneers, last year, were a recent outlier.

I would like to see a good old fashioned blend of running setting up the pass.
James Conner pounding that Rams D line and at least 10 targets to Dhop.
Nothing fancy, just abuse them with our strengths.
Cards should take this one comfortably.
Shed that, “Cards don’t play well at home” crap.

Still doesn’t account for not playing over Vallejo and walker, particularly in blowouts. That’s a LOT of lack of trust in his ability imo. It’s not just a vet playing well in front of him.

Well I meant in the NFC. For some reason and I think it’s because of weather the AFC it does happen. And your article states 4-5 years but lost from the AFC

Why not? We have been much worse at home than on the road. Far less turnovers, far less points differential. We are traditionally not good in Prime Time games and the Rams are desperate.

I love what this team has done this year, but I'm also realistic about the situation.
