Jon Duplantier pitched well as the starter. I hope this means he will
be given a chance to crack the starting rotation.

He has shown that it is not his makeup to succeed as a reliever, as
he has been used on the D-backs when previously brought up.

The starter's and reliever's routines are a whole different mindset.

Went to the game today. The team looked very solid... but of course, we know what games that mean squat actually mean... squat!
That said, Doop looked very good today, and, I was surprisingly impressed with Rondon! Man he looked extremely good! Was throwing bee bee's and looked virtually unhittable! Very encouraging!
At the same time, Matt Grace looked more like Mark Grace on the mound... horrendous!

So far against Oakland, the D-backs are down 16-2 after 7 innings.

The D-backs gave up 10 runs in the first three innings and 6
more in the second three.

I'll be curious to see who started, then who gave up the rest.

Normally when runs are given up in the middle innings of a
Spring Training game, it's the scrubs who get hit.

Weaver started, gave up 4 runs in 2/3 inning
Merrill Kelly gave up 2 runs.

Rest by people I would be surprised to see on the Opening Day roster

Yup, thanks. Although the end-of-game box score I saw accounts for only 7 2/3 innings pitched. OK, it's only a third of an inning short, with the home team winning.

Despite the lofty batting averages of most of the D-backs starting position players, they are
not scoring runs.

While the opponents are beating up our Minor League pitchers (see below). If they can do it to
us, why can't we do it to them? And not leave MadBum's one run leave him in a 3-hit shutout.

I hope it is not going to be another season of LOB's.

And, I am sad to say, my boy Kevin Cron is failing miserably with regular at-bats. I am really
disappointed in his being hitless so far. So I guess Walker and Lamb will be the regular rotation
at 1B again this season, with Lamb as backup 3B as well. Some power, but not difference makers.

BTW, Yasmany Tomás got another hit and is batting .750. We need to trade him to an A.L. team
to DH or keep him as a pinch hitter and earn part of his exorbitant salary.

And the Dodgers jump out to a 6-0 lead after 2 innings. 3 in the 1st and 3 more in the 2nd.

What the hell is going on with this pitching staff?

Maybe this staff isn't as good as they appear? Or maybe we aren't even into March yet and this isn't time to panic?
