Saw Gina Mizell post this about the Athletic's ongoing series of interviews with Suns assistant coaches. I was curious if anyone here has an Athletic subscription that could give us any highlights from it. I'm not asking for the articles to posted in full or anything like that, just a summary of sorts and if there is anything really interesting, insightful, or pertinent that can be passed along.

Here's a link to the newest interview with Mark Bryant and her links to the other Q&A's.

James Jones is looking to see what the Suns look like with Deandre Ayton before looking for external answers to improve the team.

Kellan Olson‏Verified account @KellanOlson

James Jones said on @BurnsAndGambo that the team is not focused right now on improving externally. Wants to figure out what the group is first with DA back before looking externally. "That's way too far for us to talk about."

Isn't the gaping hole at power forward obvious enough, Ayton or no Ayton???

I think it is a good idea to wait a little longer on a starting Power Forward
until they see how the Ayton/Baynes (AY-BAY) combo works at Center
and if Baynes could handle any extra time as backup Power Forward on
a routine basis.

We already know Baynes can't handle starter minutes. His body broke down after a couple of weeks.

I stole this from someone else who stole it from BSOS I think.

Games with 9+ assists and 1 or fewer turnovers:

Rubio 7
LeBron 4
then 7 guys with 2
and 23 guys with 1

Games with 11+ assists and 4+ steals:

Rubio 3
Rest of NBA 6

AST – TO ratio (MIN 10 games played and 23 minutes per game)

Ricky Rubio 4.88
Marcus Smart 3.64
= Difference of 1.24
Draymond Green 2.41
= Difference of 1.23
Marcus Smart is closer to #31 then he is #1.

There are a LOT of similarities to Ricky Rubio and Jason Kidd at the same age. Same strengths and weaknesses. Kidd was stronger and more physical, but Rubio plays smart and takes better care of the ball.

Thanks for posting that. Even with his less than stellar
shooting, Ricky has been the greatest difference maker
on the 2019-20 Suns. We have other shooters.

Book is in a class by himself as Shooting Guard, but he
has not affected the rest of the team as positively as
Rubio.

Its amazing how many more games you can win when your pg stops throwing the ball to the other team.

The Suns will probably end up having a fully healthy roster for only the very first and very last games of the season. That's just the way it seems to go here.

Cam Johnson’s hip is starting to become a major concern considering what he dealt with in college

Well, it was really nice being able to be excited about this team for the first two or three weeks of the season.

The NBA gods looked down upon the Suns after they demolished the Kings the first game of the season and were like, "Nah, fam. We can't have these peasants atop the NBA ranks."

and then there was the raft of people on draft night who told me I was crazy for being fearful of taking a kid with hip issues. that's crap's only going to get worse the more NBA pounding Cam takes.
