Phil Kessel, Nick Schmaltz and Jordan Oesterle are not on the ice for Coyotes practice this afternoon. I am guessing the first two are maintenance days. We’ll hear more about Oesterle after practice from coach Rick Tocchet.

Roman Josi has signed an eight-year max deal worth just north of $9 M AAV per season, making him the third-highest paid D in the NHL. Believe the deal also includes a full NMC which Nashville never gives out. Front loaded structure.

Talks heated up over last 3-4 days. My sense a month ago was the Josi camp at around $9.5 M aav asking price and the Preds were at $8.5 M aav so both sides compromised to get it done. The full NMC is huge as well.
