I think the Cards are sticking with Rosen and all this Murray talk is a smokescreen to generate trade value for the #1 pick.

Last night I was out having beers with my scout friend and 2 scouts for other NFL teams, the Giants and Colts.

Let me preface the following by saying these aren't the final decision makers for their teams but they do have a lot of input as they are pretty far up the food chain.

I asked them who they liked better, Murray or Haskins. All 3 said Haskins. I then asked if they thought the Cards were taking Murray? They said they have no clue because they are focused on their teams draft and personnel.

That got me thinking, two of teams, Jax and Giants, that need a QB and have been mentioned as possible trade partners both like Haskins better. Why the Murray talk with the Cards if they're trying to create trade value?

Either the Cards are taking Murray or all the talk is media and agent driven from the Murray camp. I think it's the latter.

Cool post CBUS.

I think the problem is nobody would be buying the Haskins talk. Why would the Cardinals draft Haskins when they have Rosen?

KK's comments and scheme are the perfect storm for Murray. However, what doesn't make sense to me is why would any other team care? If I am SF, I am loving the Cardinals taking Murray. To your point, Murray talk isn't going to get the Giants or Jags to move up to #1, unless they want Murray (highly doubtful in my mind).

I don't think in a normal year, Murray is a 1st or 2nd round draft pick. Size, scheme limitations, and his interest in baseball make this very risky for anyone.

Hard to really know what is going on this time of the year with so much "smoke and Mirror" talk. Cards are really keeping this close to their vest which is smart. I'm clueless on what they are going to do. I don 't think the Cards have made a decision yet on who will be their number one pick. I do agree with you that the media is driving the Murray pick for the Cards.

I think it's the Raiders that want Murray.

why would you think that? Gruden loves him some Carr and almost has the kid running his offense exactly like he wants it.
pretty sure Gruden wants a Bosa or a Josh Allen....he needs a terror off the edge...

from what I have seen the only issue Gruden has with Carr right now is identifying which play to audible in to... Carr goes from pass to run, Gruden wants him to audible from one pass play to another based on the defense....and the kid made progress in that area as the season progressed.

but the raiders need a replacement for Kalil Mack...obviously he cannot be directly replaced,..but they need a guy who can do the same things and with help, get the same results. I wouldnt be surprised to see them go defense with their first three picks this year, then grab a WR in the fourth.

I've been wondering the same and imagine soon we will have haskins in for an interview and swing the pendulum again.

Agreed.

Raiders would love to have Bosa (to help justify loss of Mack) and can easily replace Amari Cooper with a 1st rd WR in this class. That extra first round pick can be used to get Bosa and they walk away with talented players for much less cost to build around in Vegas.

Plus - they have 2 more #1 picks next year.

Lol Haskins is trash.

Been saying it and will continue too. I watch all big 10 he doesn't have franchise quarterback quality. Therefore trash.

Let them trade up & take him, we'll take Allen or williams at #4, get their #27, take the best off lineman or WR plus their 2nd round pick.
I think there is a good chance in that scenario that OAK trades up for bosa and the next two teams take Williams and allen.

Right....so draft a guy to replace him and spend decent money on that player too.

I think their plan is actually more like what NE does....don't spend and instead have really good depth.

If they are trading up it's for Murray.

Are you basing that on him setting the BIG 10 record for passing TD's in a season or the BIG 10 record for passing yards in a season? Or is it his 70% completion rate at over 9 yards per attempt? Just curious.

I’d take Haskins over Murray, but the smokescreen doesn’t work with him because the hype video from Kliff about Murray is what prompted this firestorm.

Not as much money. Rookie contracts are much better. We'll see. I'm not saying it'll happen, I'm saying it's a possibility to not see any of those 3 at #4

I'm basing that on watching football and seeing his deficiencies

I watch Ohio State as much as Penn State, I know he will never be a good franchise quarterback.

Okay got it.

I was worried you may be basing it on his strong arm, accuracy, and being able to handle the moment.

I think I may watch a bit more OSU football than you. But, please, tell me his deficiencies that make him "trash".

I'll help you. He has two weaker points(I wouldn't call them deficiencies), he is not the most athletic QB but still a good athlete. And, at times, his footwork gets out of kilter when pressured. But so does about every young QB and that got better as the year wore on and will continue to improve over time.

They had 12 sacks last season!
