My thinking is, what if you go the whole season with Bradford, and it resembles this every game more or less. How does that help the team? If you are going to lose almost every game with a QB you know is not the long term solution, why not start the learning process of the future QB? Because he may lose and lose his confidence? I don't buy that. A guy needs to hone his craft. As bad as this offensive line is, it seemed to keep Bradford upright mostly. So I don't think you have to fear Rosen getting hurt any more than normal. Why not start the process now? Best case scenario? The team rallies around the rookie and plays a little harder.

That's essentially what happened to Bradford you realize this right? The guy was nails in college and he has ability but in my opinion he's been so injured and used he's given up but that's just my take.
Aikman is often used as an example of a QB that played on an initially awful team but he was learning under the same OC they won SB's with later.
It's true it may have no effect on him depends on how he's wired but if there is a chance of ruining him I would think keeping him out until the bye is the best idea.

Wilkes is in over his head - and that’s on Michael Bidwill and Keim who did the hiring - now we might have just faced the most talented, best team in the NFL - but Washing got beat soundly and we made them look like a SB contender week 1. These guys are not even close to being prepared to play an NFL schedule - across the board - Wilkes looks like a deer in the headlights on his pressers
That's right Bucky. We are not competitive on O, D, or special teams. And, putting in a Rookie QB isn't going to change that sir.
There's no rush, because we literally have nothing to play for at this point. We're not going to win anything this year So you may as well give the kid a few more weeks with the play book, and his WRs (and I'm using that term loosely), and let McCoy try to figure it out a little bit.
Hopefully Rosen will be our starter for the next 12 years. But if you put him out there next week, and he gets mauled by the Bears, and throws four picks. What are you going to say about the kid then? That he sucks? And that we need to draft another QB? Because there's about a 75% chance of that happening, but it really wouldn't be his fault, because its a no win situation.
Starting Rosen in week three is a total panic, 11 year-old-girl, fire-up-the-clown-car-because-the-circus-will-officially-be-in-town, loser move.

Against vanilla defenses who didn't bother scheming very much and much of the time the defense was largely second teamers.
So yeah...he was awesome in preseason.

I want to see Rosen call out the staff in week 10 or 11.
Wasnt just that...he held the ball longer and was looking downfield...which Bradford doesn't do...he slides in the pocket... Which Bradford doesn't do.
Yes... Vanilla defenses... But the kid is smart and he will learn.
The dude played for UCLA for gods sake so it aint like losing some games is gonna break him

Agree. Bears will eat Bradford alive, especially if he continues to bail out of the pocket instead of stepping up. Once he tweaks his knee, which is only a matter of time imo, the Rosen era will officially be underway. I have to think Wilks knows this and is therefore not actively pushing for Rosen to start, knowing his time will come soon enough.

Russell Wilson is able to do great even with a mediocre offense. In spite of his two errors last night (one being his first interception in years), he almost brought the Seahawks to a win last night. Rosen is no Russell Wilson. Its always easy to blame the QB when a team is bad. Bradford isn't a Russell Wilson either, but he is a lot better QB than many on this board think. I wasn't at the game and, like most of us, did not watch a tape of the games that would allow one to see what the receivers were doing down field and whether our receivers were open. My sense is that there were not many opportunities for Bradford to throw down field, but thats only a surmise. I also don't think our offensive line is all that great. A highly mobile QB possibly could have overcome these problems but none of our QBs fit the bill.

He's a better QB than Bradford right now. In control conditions on a practice field Bradford will look great but it's another story on the playing field. Bradford has no problem with his arm but his psyche, and this OL is not that bad to make Rosen a mental case. Darnold is getting his shot on a team whose offense has worst talent than us. Rosen dreams of having the options even on our team compared to what he had at UCLA. You draft guys for a reason, to freaking play. There will never be perfect circumstances and Bradford has made his money and has zero motivation in his given circumstances... I agree, play the boy
Bradford was historic bad.
There were guys open past where he threw. He was only looking short to dump the ball in a hurry.

rather the QB is throwing a guy open 20 yards downfield...or checking down to a RB 3 yards downfield..
he has to release the ball at the same time
So reading most posts of anyone against starting Rosen I come to the conclusion JR should not start a game this year. Even though he is one hit away of getting thrown into the game ....we shouldn’t put him in? I’d rather see him start with a week of reps with the starters . But we also need an OC that might understand how to protect a young Qb with misdirections, end around, screens and draws AFTER throwing down the field early to loosen up the defense. There will never be a “ perfect time” to put Rosen in. That being said I’d rather see him have a week of preparation than to throw him into a game in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

The thing is also Bradford could play an elite game and a lot of this fan base would kick him in the nuts repeatedly. I’m glad his knee is doing well - and most fans and experts nationwide agree that if his knee holds up than Bradford is a top tier, #1 draft pick, experienced NFL QB. Will he ever play good enough for cards fans? Probably not - till Rosen gets throttled in this horrible offense -

In la-la land, maybe. #1 draft pick doesn't in the least bit matter, so I don't know why you put it in there. Experienced? Max Hall had experience. Experience doesn't equate to ability. You threw in yet another caveat with the injury bit. How many qualifiers do you have to tack on to try to justify this outlandish opinion. Comparing Bradford to max hall? You bumped your head! La la land just kicked the crap out of the cards - Bradford is very able to be those most accurate capable qb in the NFL - with double digit completion streaks and elite decision making any given Sunday - not because I say so - because he has done repeatedly and successfully and earned a trade for 2 first round draft picks when healthy - vile poison- bearing false witness from fans - doesn’t help matters.
