Fitz gave an incredibly raw, emotional presser today... He mentioned how the players feel "responsible" for BA's poor health and the stress he is feeling. He mentioned that when he spoke with BA today, he gave Fitz a very short and to the point message - "We need a win..."
I'm inclined to believe that this latest "out of sync" event could very well be the final body blow to this team. BA may very well not be in Atlanta this weekend... And even if he is, he would most certainly continue to be the BA we have seen since preseason and the BA who has not been the BA from the previous 3 seasons.
Or...
Or, maybe... Just maybe this can serve as the quintessential rally cry. The singular event that snaps this team - collectively, back into reality... bringing them together as one emotionally energized unit. And maybe reminding them how to win games as they've done during the BA era.
Maybe they now realize that time is indeed fleeting. That BA won't be around forever - nor will they. And that winning in the NFL should never be taken for granted. Every second of every practice matters. Each minute away from the field is invaluable in terms of preparation. And come game day, playing each down as if it means winning or losing a Super Bowl is what's required.
Like I said, my gut is that this team is shot. Emotionally, physically, spiritually shot... and BA's visit to the ER is simply the final scene in a tragic play of a season. But man, how epic would it be if this team somehow found it in them to rally around their coach, like they've never rallied before!! One can dream I suppose... Atlanta will be the proving ground.
