Why the heck aren't we pursuing Ray Rice?

because he looked washed up even before he beat his wife.

I'm more curious why we're not looking at Pierre Thomas.

Because we don't want to be known as a wayward home for garbage?

Not worth the public relations hit.

Exactly. You can make an argument for Adrian Peterson, bad pub but still a good player. With Rice it's much harder do you really want to get beat up in the media for months and picketed by womens groups for a guy who may be washed up after playing hurt all year his last year and then sitting out a full year.

I suspect if teams thought he was really healthy he'd probably already have a home.

And come on, lots of NFLers have done worse things than he did when drunk.
Teams will only endure a PR nightmare for an impact player. Take away the horrific beating he gave his wife and he would still have trouble getting signed, as he was already in significant decline...

No one in the NFL will touch Rice with a ten foot pole. He's TOXIC, far more so than AP or Vick.

He might be able to work in the CFL or AFL next year, but he is done in the NFL.

He would be signable had he averaged 4.5 ypc before his suspension. His lack of recent production compounded by the scrutiny that would invariably come with bringing him in would be a negative return.

Cause we already caught him, since he is easy to catch these days.

In any event, BA needs to find a RB with David Johnson's skillset, to be a back up to Ellington. He need to be very fast and quick AND to be able to catch out of the backfield. Rice is neither of those anymore.
