Yeah, but how many of his kicks landed at the 19 instead of inside the 10? I sure hope Zastudil comes back strong next year. IMO, Butler was terrible most of the year.

Inside the 20 is the most ridiculous stat ever. It's completely dependent on how many punt opportunities a punter gets in the "sweet spot" for dropping a put between there and the goal line. Typically a team with a crappy offense (ahem!) will give the most opportunities.

Inside the 10 is a much better stat.. and something that Zasty was a master at. Damn I hope he comes back next year.

What's wrong with Zast that he wouldn't be back?

His average punt distance is also 31st best in the league...can't wait for zastudil to be punting again.

He gets this honor by way of having a weak leg.

All the times we punted just outside Cat's FG range... most punters have to throttle it back with a wedge shot to avoid a touchback, Butler takes the driver out of his bag and lets it fly.

This was % of punts inside 20 not total # of punts inside 20 which has nothing to do with how many opportunities Butler had.

Also led the league in fair catch punts.

That's bound to happen when the returner has to sprint 10-20 yards up field to grab it. :D

You know that phrase you sometimes hear after a great return? "He out kicked his coverage"

Yeah... Butler has never outkicked his coverage lol.

This kid is living proof that when life hands you lemons.. Make lemonade!!

Perhaps we should reexamine Butler. I don't know. Maybe our perception was skewed after a couple blocked punts early and some bad field position early. Not sure.

I like stats and punter stats aren't usually that debatable. I'm like a walking statgasm and they are what they are...

Does anybody keep stats on something as obscure as the time it takes the ball from hands to foot? (Like catcher pop time)

I can't believe he hasn't had more blocked than he has... I honestly panicked a little with every punt, It seems like a lifetime between snap and kick with this kid.

Definitely a weird case of perception being far different than reality with him.
They rarely have a hangtime counter on TV anymore... Maybe his is pretty good?

Considering we continue to be one of the best punting teams year after year, with different punters, I interpret that to just mean we punt more often than any other team, so we've gotten pretty good at it.

Which feels about right

Yes, he's a nightmare getting rid of the ball. On his blocked kicks it's usually not even a guy getting free run at him. Rather, it's just him taking too long to kick it.

I don't care what his stats say.. This kid sucks.. He just handed them their first 3 points on a platter.
