It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Name: Jimmy Gregg
Position: Punter
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 195 lbs
Hometown: Morgantown, WV
High School: University High School
2025 Stats: 45.1-yard net punting average in his senior season. Had four punts inside the one, 13 inside the ten, and zero touchbacks.
2026 projections: After the loss of Jack Stonehouse, the punter position for the Orange seems to be pretty wide open. Gregg was one of the best punters in the class of 2026, and I would not be very surprised to see him get the starting job from day 1.
How’d he get here?: Gregg chose the Orange after also taking official visits to NC State, West Virginia, and NC State
What’d recruiting sites say?: Consensus three-star prospect from ESPN, On3, and 24/7. Ranked as the #1 punter in the class 0f 2026 by 24/7

Interesting nugget o’interest: Jimmy Gregg has already made a significant impact off the field, as he recently raised over $7,000 through the Kohl’s Champions program for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a foundation that helps childhood cancer patients. In his interview with Alex’s Lemonade Stand, he mentioned one of the reasons he picked the Orange was Fran Brown’s culture of giving back.
